Just wanted to say anyone using Charles Johnson & Greg Hardy to justify Kony Ealy's 2nd year...is complete BS!

Charles Johnson was buried behind Mike Rucker (then Tyler Brayton the next year) and John Fox's love for veterans...still looked good.

Greg Hardy looked good his 2nd year as well...Ealy just hasn't looked the part. Hopefully, he turns a corner soon

Ealy has had more of an impact, playing more snaps than hardy in the same amount of games.

We are only bitching about this because KB got hurt. Gettleman has done everything right for the most part. His philosophy is about building a strong d-line. We brought back Ginn and drafted Funchess to pair with KB. Sht happens in the NFL. No one expected a fresh talent like KB to get hurt. We would actually have a really solid group of WR's if he didn't. But hey he did and now we have to go through the growing pains watching Brown and Funchess develop.

Also Ealy is a good contributor. He had a bad game. We still won, let it go.

Landry was available. He was the player I hoped the Panthers picked in the second round. Since Gettleman blew up the WR position I was hoping to use that receiver deep draft to replenish the position. I wanted to surround Cam with Kelvin Benjamin, Jarvis Landry, Martavis Bryant, and Jeff Janis. 

Others wanted an OT in the second round.

Instead we got Ealy.

Addison is better than Ealy, and I believe that is why Ealy has been playing less. Not to mention Ealy practically handed the game to the Texans with multiple bonehead plays. I know others want to keep hope alive for Ealy, but I have seen enough to know he is a liability.

I know you're a WR freak (I am too to some degree since I used to play it, though I like defense--particularly secondary--more than offense typically, I focus a lot on WR), but you have to admit that DE is a more important position in the way our team is being built under this coaching staff than WR. Yes we all know Shula sucks, but even with a good OC who fits our identity, WR wouldn't be as important to our success as DE. Frank wasn't looking much better than Ealy before he went down and Addison and Horton are great rotational players but not much more. We need a Hardy-level talent again and I'm still hoping Ealy can be our guy across from CJ.

I have seen Frank Alexander play, and unlike some who seem to want to downplay his development, I could see him breaking out this year, much like Hardy and CJ did their third years. I don't look at one position being philosophically more important than another. The importance of positions are not static in my mind, regardless of how one builds a team, because how one builds a team should depend upon the situation at hand.

Team building is a dynamic proposition that is more akin to building a puzzle on top of the ocean amid the tides. You have to try and put it together the best way you can before the waves just carry the pieces away.  

I don't think that anyone can say with any surety that we wouldn't be better off with one of those receivers anymore than they can say with any surety that we would. It's just all speculation. But I do know that there is more than one way to build a team and win a championship. We are close, but there always seems to be that weakness in the chain that breaks when we meet teams that are better balanced.

I'm cool with the Ealy pick tho. Not many people had those WRs listed as being a better prospect than him.

The "one not to be mentioned" was not going to be resigned under the D.G plan. Needed a young DE to replace said vacancy. No brainer

Kony was a fantastic pick and still has the potential to become a legit starting defensive end. He's in the second game of his second season and showed real promise last year. People forget how long it took CJ to become the player he is today, because he was overshadowed by Peppers

why are you posting about receivers a day after ginn makes a beautiful move for a 25 yard score and brown beats double coverage for a 36 yard TD? 

not to mention olsen's 70 yards and funchess showing some promise. 

Can we just stop with this? What we have is what we have. We're 2-0, and cam and company will make it work. 

We aren't going to be able to waste an entire half every game waiting for our WR's to decide to start catching passes.
