I don't mind taking a DE, since our pass rush has been mediocre to flat out bad since Hardy left and Alexander can't stay on the field. But Ealy was still a reach. There were better DEs on the board, not to mention WRs and OTs which we need just as much. The early returns on Ealy aren't good and I doubt he'll ever justify being picked where he was. But I guess people aren't allowed to do anything but fellate Gettleman here.

was not a fan of the ealy pick, nor short over Keenan Allen but short is a beast so i can deal with that

Wouldn't have hated on a double dip at WR...but DE is, and could be argued was, a need at the time.  Hardy was going to be a huge contract (and many figured we'd let him walk anyway).

 

Getts took a guy many pegged as a 1st rounder in the 2nd...after he took our WR in the 1st.  Not going to fault him for that.  As for Ealy...he's shown flashes, shown nothing, and been a bonehead.  Not saying he'll even be good one day...but sound familiar to another player mentioned in this post? 

exactly this. If he breaks out in year 3 like Hardy did. Getts is going to look like a genius. Quality pass rushers are harder to come by than WRs.

Just wanted to say anyone using Charles Johnson & Greg Hardy to justify Kony Ealy's 2nd year...is complete BS!

Charles Johnson was buried behind Mike Rucker (then Tyler Brayton the next year) and John Fox's love for veterans...still looked good.

Greg Hardy looked good his 2nd year as well...Ealy just hasn't looked the part. Hopefully, he turns a corner soon
