The Coaching staff deserves credit

A tip of the hat to the Panthers coaching staff yesterday.

It was evident the offensive coaching staff gameplanned hard for reigning NFL defensive POY JJ Watt. Watt was basically ineffective all day except for one sack, which occured as Newton escaped the pocket.

And as for Shula, you sly devil. The deep pass to Philly Brown off of playaction was a thing of beauty. It was the first play called after the Panthers were set up with great field position and leading by seven points. The coaches must have noticed the Houston safety creeping up on runs, so when Newton sold the run all Philly Brown had to do was not be Corey Brown and come down with the ball.

Gotta give a round of applause for that one Mikey.

And for Rivera....I give you credit for winning this game while also making the right decision to keep Kuechly and Star on the sideline.

Overall, great gameplan by the Panther coaches, and great execution by the players.

I'm happy with the win obviously, but it would be nice to not once again see a Rivera coached football team give the opposing offense the ball back with nearly 3 minutes on the clock, 2 timeouts, and only needing 7 points to tie the game. It worked out playing against a backup in Mallett, but we play some talented quarterbacks coming up on our schedule.

If our goal is to get to the Super Bowl, and win, we have to finish. Can't keep putting that kind of pressure on our defense every time.
