Newton right now

What a glorious day it will be when we are able to witness our team win a tough football game, and we don't see some "fan" who just "keeps it real" chiming in with a remark like "well Cam may have had 271 total yards, 3 touchdowns, and lead our team in rushing for the game, buuuuuuut.........".

Hey, I enjoy the wins as much as anybody, and I am a Cam Newton fan, but he is not a top 5 passer right now. That's just the truth.

The sad part in all of this, Cam's Passer rating is at an all time low and those that do not watch the games will quick to point that out. However, those of us in the know understand that his numbers would be 100+ passer rating if he had wide receivers who did their job.

Exactly.  Running blind with stats is a quick way to look stupid.

Cam played great. And we won. He needs to tighten things up but it's the second game of the year. Let's hope his arrow keeps pointing up all season because honestly this team is going to go how he goes because of the lack of talent on O.

"Lack of talent on O"

I'm seeing that alot, and assuming people are mostly meaning our skill players, esp. WRs.  But our O also includes our Oline, and the way they've stepped up and the increased talent there is a HUGE difference from last year.  Plus a pro-bowl TE in Greg Olsen, and a very solid running back in J. Stew...  (Remember Stew was 4 for 4 on receptions last week, a huge key to our win against JAX).

No, we may not have a flashy Offense and may not see our guys atop the leaderboard too much.  But, I think the sum of all the pieces is an O that is pretty respectable and beginning to gel nicely and find its identity and will keep finding ways to win us games.

i wanted to mention again how truly great that td throw was to ginn on the stop and go. Unbelievable touch and anticipation. Cam lobbed it up as ginn was at a full stop before the go. If cam continues to make throws like that we will be ok (and obviously if the wrs catch the ball!)

Yeah, that poo was nice.  I didn't quite catch it the first time, but after watching it over a few times it's just like you said.  It was almost like them two were telepathically linked if only for that one play.

Perfect timing, perfect route, perfect throw, perfect anticipation, and hit Ginn in perfect stride with a lob as he jogged out the back of the end zone.  That stop and go spin by Ginn was too smooth and nasty.

Damnit Ginn, you could be SO much better.  Catch the damn ball more consistently!

This may be a strange question, but does anyone think the new "mature" cam has lost a step. This is not a cam bash (i still think he has the potential to be one of the best), but i was watching the press conference and he looked so uncomfortable until he started talking about the touchdown flip. When he spoke without worrying about his words i felt a natural greatness.

I guess i miss the old immature cam in a way. He played HIS game, with HIS passion and HIS fashion. I just kinda wish he didnt go too far to the side of proper and Bill Bellicheckish (just answering the question and moving on). Cam is one of my favorites BECAUSE of his love of the game, not because of his maturity.

I see things a little differently. Cam had some nice runs and the 2 TD passes were excellent, but he also missed a lot of throws and was lucky not to throw about 3 picks. Also, a 6'5" QB shouldn't be getting so many passes tipped at the LOS, IMO.

If I was him, I wouldn't be anywhere near satisfied with my performance.

Clowney  is 6'6'. Watt is 6'5 and batting passes is kinda his thing.

He didnt miss that many throws. Sometimes the other team plays defense.

Are we really going to be the fan base that does this to our QB for every game?

He's still #25 all-time. There's hall of fame and multiple super bowl winning QBs with lower ratings. I understand wanting him to improve, but this ongoing narrative that Cam isn't a good passer is tiring and ignorant. "Bad" compared to like the top ten QBs ever, sure.
