You just can't give him his full credit can you.

Hopkins is a stud and 24 was matched up with him man to man quite a bit and took him out of the game.  He did a great job sniffing out that screen pass.  Give the guy his just due.

Depends what you mean by full credit?

I give him credit for playing very well of late.  The team is shutting dudes down.  Norman clearly has a big role in that....but not giving credit to all that have something major to do with it ain't right.

He ain't Nnamdi in Oak.....and this thread is about paying the dude or tagging him.

You think Norman in this scheme is worth 14 million for a season?  I'll gladly take another Peanut instead at that price and Dave can go get a DE.

He has a presence on that field and for the first time in a long time we have a guy that can lock dudes down.  I think he deserves to get paid.  Considering his transformation we should be jumping at the chance to keep him here because statistics show very few cbs can do what he's doing, scheme or not

Remember Cason?

I got no issue keeping him here.  You want to talk about tagging him?  You want to talk big money?  I got issues w/ that.

You want to know what he worth?  You don't decide to pay him elite money after 2 games to open a season against garbage QBs...Dave Gettlemen is gonna be watching the GB, Indy, etc games when it comes time to talk money.

I'm guessing you forgot about his games last year in which he shut down Julio and Josh Gordon.

We should have enough proof at this point.

I honestly thought we should have paid him before the season started.

just having a good WR on the field doesn't make a job super tough for a CB.  Passing game has to do w/ an OL, a QB, and a WR.

For example, name the 2 best teams we beat in the Norman is elite era?   The Norman era is basically playing football against some messed up teams.  They might have one cog working but they aren't strong teams

If you are gonna pay Norman big money or tag him.....he's gotta be this dude against GB, Indy, etc.  He doesn't have any of that under his belt.  His resume isn't impressive enough to be talking the big money some want to throw at him.

Luke and Cam get big checks.  They got the resume to back it.   I'm not down w/ Marty Hurney check cashing....just throwing cash at fan favorties and overpaying for good.

Your point can go either way.  Julio was getting LOOOOSE on the entire NFL and 24 locked him up.  Twice.  I guess their passing game just wasn't working in our game then.  When you're lining up man-man against a "Manimal" it absolutely is tough for a cb, are you kidding me.

Matt Ryan was getting blown up by our front.  Team sport.   Pass rush was crazy, especially the 2nd meeting.   How you gonna throw when the pass rush blow up plays?  Atl OL was a joke last year....and our front got things cracked up at the end of the year (just in time to dominate them) and go on our run.

Like I said, I got no beef keeping him.  I want to keep him....but only at a reasonable price.  He ain't got the work in to get big time money or a tag.

Now, could he have the resume by the end of the year?  Sure.

Out of curiosity, what would be a reasonable price in your mind? I would love to get him for 7-8M but expect he will command closer to 10 or 11M.

Talib signed a deal and his average a year is 9.5 a year....so even if Norman plays well I would say he would need to be below that average.   I'd be fine w/ it averaging out to 7-8 a year.

you start talking 10? or tag? Too much IMO.  That starts getting into Marty territory IMO.
