Skinny Al?

With Clifford coming out and Saying Al won't be as big of a part of the offense this year, it would've made too much sense to keep Biz.

Oh well.

I heard a little birdie chirping a few weeks ago...this birdie happens to speak with coach year round...

they were saying that Biz just didn't take basketball seriously enough. He gave an example of one offseason where Biz wanted to go home for a few weeks to visit famly in Africa. The coaches were very much against this, as they wanted Biz to stay here, working out and trying to improve his game. Coach Cliff sat down with Biz and told him straight up, "you need to work on your game we don't want you to go etc etc".  Well, Biz didn't take coaches advice, went on the trip and when he came back he was out of shape and hadn't worked on his game at all. Coach Cliff was PISSED.

Sounded like that was a recurring theme with Biz. Take it for what it's worth.

Also some other tidbits from that convo:

Clifford has really liked how Frank has looked this summer

He likes Linn a lot also

He is approaching this season as if it's his first year here. Completely fresh eyes and a completely new team, even though there are several key mainstays returning like Kemba, MKG and Al.

SOB was out of shape the entire year last year.  Damn he would piss me off at times where he looked like he was half-assing everything, taking bad shots, and getting worn out just from jogging down the court... because that slow jog was about the most physically exerting thing he'd do the entire game.  He sure as hell didn't wear himself out on defense, scrapping for rebounds, trying to get a better position on offense, or helping get his teammates open.

Then, of course, he would turn into a garbage time hero in games that were completely out of reach to pad his stats so they didn't look as bad as what they should have.

It's extremely rare that I'm ever that harsh on athletes... but damn he frustrated the hell out of me a lot last season.

So he's mad at  Biz for two week vacation but is OK with Big Al being overweight and terrible on defense?  Doesn't add up.  Especially considering Biz was always giving 100% on the court and defense/rebounding was getting even better.  He was never going to be an offensive player anyway.  I have a hard time believing someone lazy would give 100% every night, even when we were a garbage team and losing.

Not signing Biz, especially how cheap he went, to me was the only bad thing we did this offseason.

from the gist of what I heard, it was a lot more than just that little two week vacation

I think it was overall lack of commitment to the game.

Yeah, I'm glad he showed the same dedication coming into last season...

It started off so well, but I can't wait to turn the page on Big Al.

Yeah this just made me mad more than anything. And of course we'll re-sign him because "franchise player" and do this all over again...

In four years Biz could literally not catch an entry pass and you would have thought we let Hakeem walk. Dude is and was always going to be another Diop and I'm glad we moved on from him. Need to do the same with Al now that he will no longer be the only guy on the floor with an offensive skill set.

see what I said above

I did and it doesn't surprise me at all. This was pretty much obvious and everyone said as much when he was benched at the beginning of the year.

Biz is a great kid with his heart ultimately in the right places but he needs to worry about getting the Serge Ibaka money and the Dikembe notoriety before being an ambassador. That's harsh but there's only 15 spots max on 30 NBA rosters and a TON of guys who'd do anything to get that 15th spot.

eggh. He isn't in jeopardy of flunking out of the league. He's living his life. Kudos to him for that.
