Texans @ Panthers: Preview and Analysis

Nice job, UP.

FYI: O'Brien comes out of Bill Belichick coaching tree professionally and worked under Chan Gailey in college.  Given those connections, I'd expect he'll run some form of an Erhardt-Perkins offense.  Although given that he was in the college ranks for several years, don't be surprised if some college style plays and maybe even some zone reads get mixed in.

For what it's worth, Belichick's coaching tree is a lot like Charlie Brown's Christmas tree prior to the makeover.  Nobody that branches out from under him tends to have much success as a head coach elsewhere, though O'Brien did well at Penn State,

(basically, Belichick is really good at cheating but hasn't managed to teach others how to do it)

As to Clowney, until he really breaks out on the pro stage, most people are still gonna consider him overrated.  I've heard one commentator state that he made himself tons of money off of basically one highlight reel play.  I don't know if he's going to show he can be a force at the pro level at some point, but if it does happen I hope it isn't tomorrow.

agreed. i watched him all throughout his USC career and the kid has huge potential that has been largely untapped after he was drafted.

Pretty sure there were some who thought Clowney underachieved even during his last year at South Carolina.

It was like something happened after the hype train got going. Whether he downshifted, the pressure got to him or he was just overhyped to begin with has been the subject of some debate.
