Are we overrating Star?

I know you can read the title alone and likely get out the pitchforks so to speak. For what it's worth let me just go on the record and say that I am in no way, shape or form bashing Star, I am not bashing the player that he is nor the man that he is for that matter.   I actually think Star is a solid player, definatley one of the best DTs we have had since all pro Sione Fua (I kid I kid)..

But with that being said, I am of the opinion that we are overrating Star. I'm not going to bore you with stats, numbers and comparisons, instead I'm going to keep this simple.. Since Star has missed games, I honestly haven't been able to tell a difference in our D..

We still seem to be the same dominate D in the games he has not played. It just seems like our D doesn't miss a beat with or without him. Lete put it this way, since he has missed games, there really hasn't been that moment where I said to myself "omg our D looks so bad, we need Star back badly." Our D has continued to be so good I couldn't tell the difference honestly. What are your thoughts?

from a player-to-fan standpoint? no

in comparison to the front office? i think so, majorly

i think a lot of people are going to be shocked when the FO makes a bigger push in retaining KK than Star... i honeslty wouldn't be surprised if we witness another Peppers situation - a tag or two and then letting him walk.

now, i'm not saying that he's not a great player... i just get the sense the FO is a little disappointed to this point, or have at least been substantially more impressed with KK... of course, Star could come out and have a huge year an make all this irrelevant

Did you watch the game last week? TJ Yeldon looked fantastic against our D. If we didn't have so many turnovers in the passing game, they would have rushed for a lot more than 96 yards. Holding a team to 4.6 ypc is nothing to be proud of. We weren't especially great against the run in Seattle either (Lynch had 4.2 ypc). I'm not saying that he's an all pro, but he's a game changer. Maybe take a few minutes to think through your premise before posting something stupid next time?

Star Lotulelei finished second overall in run stoppage percentage, and recorded 23 pressures along with 42 tackles and 3 sacks AS A ROOKIE (Star was named to five All-Rookie teams by the by).

In two seasons, Star has amassed 46 defensive stops and 41 QB pressures.

You tell me, are we overrating Star?

    • Soooo many bad turnovers again. Luckily Martin played well.
    • Yes. Cade 100% tripped and pitched it to Mafah.  That’s not in dispute.  We agree on that.  Mafah got the ball, fell to the ground and then attempted to complete the rest of the play….which was the lateral to the WR on the end around.  You are calling the lateral from Mafah to the end around WR the ball popping up.   It was whistled dead.   Then they ran another play.  the review then awarded the ball to SC after we ran another play for what happened after a play was whistled dead.   How does that part work lol?  How do you recover a ball if a play was whistled dead for a downed player prior to a recovery?  I think the refs screwed Clemson twice.   That’s not why they lost.  Please don’t think that is my argument.   They lost because Cade chocked and panicked at the end.  They lost because Sellers should have been put on the ground for a loss countless times and they didn’t.  They lost because our over loyal Dabo wouldn’t bench his favorite hurt RB.    Clemson lost for lots of reasons. SC deserved to win.  Those calls were bad though IMO.  They exist in every game.
    • I can’t recall an NBA team with this many injuries.  It’s getting absurd at this point
