Norman takes exception with Gruden's MNF comment

The good news is that Norman will most likely continue to ball out this year. The bad news? This is his one chance for a fat contract, and you best believe that he is not going to offer any meaningful hometown discount. Doing so would be a disservice to himself and his agent. The franchise tag is a possibility, but I think Gman parts ways with JNo after the year and gets a CB in the draft or off the street. For now, just enjoy having a shutdown corner neutralizing the opponents #1

You know, it'd have been kind of pointless going through all this BS the past few years to get our cap straightened out so we could keep our important players, only to let a guy like Norman walk... when we actually have the money to retain him.

We won't overpay, but I could see Gettleman offering him something along the lines of $11 million per year if he really does have a good season.

Losing players as supremely talented as Hardy and Norman in such a short amount of time isn't very conducive to building a contender.  Especially since we could've retained Hardy for peanuts considering his on-the-field production.

Yes there is. It's rare but it happens. Randall Cobb gave the packers a discount this offseason. And if you knew Josh at all you'd know how much he wants to be in Carolina. Something respectable like $7-8M/year would without a doubt be enough for him.

I don't know... I doubt he'd be willing to give up $10million over the length of the contract to stay in Carolina. That just wouldn't be fiscally reasonable.

I got to lol if you think pass rush is the only thing that kept julio from getting his numbers when facing us.

Falcons garbage OL last year too? Some of the pressure numbers from the games last year were flat out tremendous as well as simply watching the Falcon OL get abused off the snap.

Norman isn't bad.  But he is the most overrated player here.  You can be good and overrated.   The freaking Jags went  to that game and specifically picked on him....people will ignore that and just say they were dumb and 24 is the bees knees.  But there is a legit reason behind it

I don't think Norman is overrated. From what we can see he is already off to this year with a great start as per PFF. We'll see if it continues but so far he isn't overrated.

PFF like any stat is good and bad.

Like the incompletion to the corner of the end zone? Stats wise that counts as a "win" for Norman.  That was horrific CB play.  So bad  they immediately attacked him the next play and got a TD.  Those back to back plays show up on the PFF stat sheet?

There is a little bit similarity of similarity with how he is judged here with how Godfrey was back in the "OMG it is so awesome to finally a have a playmaking Pro Bowl caliber S" era of his career. All focus was on his big plays and all his other things he did were completely and purposefully ignored.  Godfrey was physically the most talented S we had seen but was wildly inconsistent.
