So we just signed Fernando Velasco

This has NOTHING to do with wanting Velasco back on the roster, but everything to do with being DESPERATELY thin at Oline with JJWatt & crew coming to town.

In case people didn't realize it, we only had 7 healthy linemen this a.m. before this move.

Our starting 5 (Remmers, Turner, Kalil, Norwell, Oher)

and 2 backups:  Amini Silatolu and Chris Scott.

2 guys to backup 5 in a week when you've got one of the best Dlines coming to town.

Wasn't gonna happen, and the only OLine on our PS are Foucault (UGH!) and the brand new Center signed yesterday.  So, it was pretty obvious when Chandler didn't practice yesterday that unless that changed today, we were gonna have to find someone we could plug and play.

I think we're pretty fortunate Tennessee cut Velasco.

Thankfully they cut him and not Bell!!!  My word, can you imagine the Huddle meltdown if we had resigned Bell.  LOLOLOLOL!

Thanks for the clarification.  It just had seemed that this was a situation few were paying attention to or discussing this week.  I thought folks here would have been up in arms with "OMG we need backup tackles with Williams out & JJ Watt coming to town" but there was virtually not a peep about this all week.

That's not saying much.  His natural position is Center but you know how the coaches love versatility.

FV is a G/C he was supposed to win the Center job but didnt.  Then they thought he would win a Guard position.  Bell failed at T but was better than FV at G so the Titans cut him.

Is that better, or would you say that I could have just skipped all that other stuff and said Bell was kept instead of Velasco?
