Mallett does present the unknown no one really knows what he can do. that said its a reason why he was the backup.

Mallett has a better arm and make all the throws.  Hoyer can't.

Is Mallett good?  No, but he makes the big play balls to Nuk a much bigger threat than Hoyer did.

What we're really talking about here is our Defense has to play better against their Offense than their Defense plays against our Offense.

Any time a team benches their starter to go with a back-up the week they play the Panthers I get anxious.

I guess it's the Tony Romo PTSD. I'll just sit back and try to be optimistic and try not to believe that Mallet will have a career game against us...

We need to get over this back-up QB anxiety.  Cam has shown he can lead the team in tight situation, and Rivera, for better or worse, has improved over the years.  I think this year is one of those years where we beat the teams we are supposed to beat more times than not.
