Panthers oline versus J.J.Watt

Exactly, you don't wanna pay a DE 15% of the salary cap and have him lining most of the time on the right. That's a recipe for bad defense and the Texans are a bad defense because they put no pressure on the on the QB's blind side. Good for Watt and his stat, bad for the Texans as a team.

Clowney barely played. They're easing him in.

Clowney has been recovering from a major injury...they are in the process of bringing him back.

He will play more reps vs us than KC.   Clowney vs Oher is a big mismatch.  People think be Clowney had been hurt he has been a bust for some reason....Clowney will be a problem Sunday

as good as he is, keep in mind that D gave up 27 points last week, and they lost.

If you spend all day watching Watts highlights, you might let yourself start believing we have no chance.

That said, our Offense has to play better than last week.  We're not gonna win a lot of ballgames by scoring 13 points.

To be fair we sscored 20. Olsen was called back on bs.

I've been surprised at the lack of comment on the Huddle in recent days about how thin we are at Oline.  With Williams injured, and Chandler apparently still injured, we are down to 7 healthy linemen.

[...]

There's been no prognosis given about Chandler at all, but one would have to hope that our FO is seriously scouring practice squads for someone who could come in in game shape to give us more tackle depth if needed.  If Chandler is not able to play this week, I'd consider his roster spot seriously at risk.

I posted this several hours before the news Chandler would go to IR...

Well, I was obviously right about the need to bring someone else in.  Just not thrilled it's Velasco.  But at least he does know our offense.  That counts for something.

And is versatile at G or C. I like the move considering.

Yes, it probably is the best thing we could have done on such short notice prior to Houston.  I guess we're fortunate Tennessee cut him.  (Just glad it's not BELL!  Can you imagine the Huddle meltdown if we'd resigned Bell?!?!?  LOLOLOLOL!)

We're not going against the Bills, Seattle, Jets, Denver, etc. We're going against one of the worse defenses in the league with Watt. Watt just know how to sneak on the right side of the OL and get his stat. Enough with the hype.

Hype? Watt and Clowney going against out tackles doesn't scare the hell out of you? Let's revisit this topic after the game.

I don't think you can really stop him.  Contain?  Good luck.  But ultimately you have to try to stay away from him.  He will make plays, sack the QB, stuff runs, but you can't let him have more than 5 impact plays in a game.  The Texan offense wasn't good enough against KCs D to do much with any opportunities his splash plays presented.

I think the key is to try to limit him to 5 splash plays, then go play great D against their offense.  Eventually, the Texans D will break down so long as you keep at them.  Hopefully we get some creative play calling (hahahahahaha...I know) this week to try to put some more space between the ball and Watt.
