10.7 Mill under the cap after Luke deal

Since the money can be rolled over to next year, its much more valuable being used to re-sign some other key contributors on this team (KK, Norman, Star) than used to sign a pedestrian veteran receiver who is struggling to find a job with ANYBODY in this league.

You do realize that money doesn't just roll off into JR's pocket, right?

I'm well aware of how the cap works. I also believe it's too late to go out and get a WR as it's really just a bunch of mediocre left, but it's something that should have been done in the offseason.

Don't quote me here, but won't we have 30 million+ in cap room next year?  I mean, if we can't sign KK, and Norman with THAT much money, I don't know what to say.  Star is still up in the air, too many injuries recently to say hes a guarantee to get signed.

Teams who go into the season with an abundance of unspent cap room tend to be losers. The teams with huge cap space tend to be teams like the Jags, Raiders, Browns, Bucs (with the Packers as an outlier). The teams with the least room tend to include the likes of the Seahawks, Patriots, Ravens (with the Lions as an outlier).

You don't want to go over the cap and wreck your poo like the Saints. But on the same token having a ton of room usually means you're not serious about winning. The best teams spend most of their money, and they do it wisely.

Since Gettleman fixed us we've been in the middle of the pack in cap space. If I remember right we went into the season ith 8 or 9 mil last year, and the 10.7 mil puts us at 12th most room this year.

NEWSFLASH!

The Houston Texans have traded WR Keshawn Martin to the New England Patriots for a conditional future draft pick.

Yet again, NFL superstars Hakeem Nicks and Denarius Moore have been bypassed by teams in need at the WR position for somebody elses also-rans and throw-aways.

That just SO ODD.
