What Texans Fans Are Saying

They say we're fuged without Luke Kuechly. We beat the Jags without Luke Kuechly. lol.

Like I said in another thread, the Jags are just as good if not better than the Texans. The Jags have the advantage of having a QB. Bortles will be a decent QB once he gets it. The Jacksonville D held us to one TD on offense. Shut down our Running game as well. The Texans D is just as good if not better but the Texans don't have a QB. They have amazing wide outs though. something jacksonville had. But the jags are a young team that is on the rise. The Texans have always been stagnant. They are middle of the pack and the only way they can win this is if they shut us out on offense. Which, unfortunately is possible with our current offense. Shula will have to be more creative and the players execute...I think the Defense will have to score again to jump start this offense. If Keek isn't back that's fine, I think the defense can handle the texans offense.

13-10 Panthers, Gano game winner.

I am always somewhat surprised by other fan's lack of general football knowledge, but then I must remember that that such ignorance is cherry-picked.

Bingo, you could easily find the same level of blind homerism and ignorance here or on any other teams message board and then generalize an entire fan base with a few cherry picked comments. I guess it makes for a fun discussion though.

I'm not so worried about our D, even if Luke doesn't play**.  Obviously I hope he's ok to play, and Star too.  But really what may make or break this game is our OLine.

After looking legit in preseason, it was a bit rough on Sunday.  Not only do they need to step up their play, but even worse, with Daryl's injury & Chandler's, we are THIN at OLine.  Our only backups are Silatolu & Scott. Yikes.

Daryl's injury, while not as bad as it could have been, is really tough given that we only kept 9 Oline guys this year.

----

**I mean just LOOK at what our D did in the 2nd half against the JAGS.  Just Awesome!

Houston's D will be the toughest or 2nd toughest we face all year behind Seattle's. I expect Luke to pass the protocols and lead a turnover feast against a team that has 2 starting QBs, which in football math means they don't have 1, along with no Arian Foster and no Andre Johnson opposite DeAndre Hopkins. Texan fans will say WR Nate Washington had more yards (105) than Hopkins (98) so our secondary should watch out. Pffft. Josh, Bene, and Peanut ain't sweating that WR group.

Calling a defensive slugfest won by Gano. Gonna be a lot of conservative play-calling from Shula and that's the smart move. Game will hinge on which offense screws up less and takes better advantage of turnovers both defenses will give them. We can at least threaten in both running and passing. Who does Houston have at RB now? Exactly my point

their dline is the only good part about their defense. The rest is garbage. Cam should be able to pick them apart even with our wrs

all it takes is a good front...you can play w/ garbage on the back end.  Houston D is better overall than the Jags...and they matchup better against our O.   We flat out play right into their defensive strength.  That ain't gonna be pretty.

Punting and not turning it over easily could decide this game....and I don't think either team has an edge.  Will just be about which team doesn't turn it over when things go bad.

Which is exactly why I give the edge to us.  Cam > Mallet/Hoyer.  Close game.  First to double digits and whoever wins the turnover battle wins this game IMO.

Much like Jacksonville, we are the better team.  However, the OL hasn't quite come together and injuries are a concern.  Offensively, they really don't have much for us.  Hopkins is good, but with two less than mediocre QB's throwing him the ball, he shouldn't be enough to beat us.  And with Foster out, we should be able to control their run game...especially if Star does in fact play (albeit likely with limited snaps).

Defensively, I expect they will put pressure on Cam.  But I think the receivers will have chances to make some big plays.  So, it really comes down to them catching the ball.  If Olsen wouldn't have been called for the questionable PI, and Ginn had made that easy TD catch last week, we all would be talking about how good the offense looked and that they can't overlook that side of the ball for us.  And as always, Cam is the X-factor in the run game.  Designed runs are ok, but it's the improvised ones that can break the back of a defense.  I don't know how disciplined their defense is, but if they lose gap control at all, they could have a very big problem on their hands.

    • He made some excellent throws but he always has made some excellent throws here and there. I don't know what to think, which is what I was apprehensive about. Is he going to have a decent downfield game? Because okay Legette dropped one, but someone was giving stats prior to the bye or during it where he had two downfield completions and one of them was the jump ball that is just launched and fingers are crossed that our guy comes down with it, and yesterday we saw that again. The Russell Wilson school of downfield passing.  I don't feel like that is sustainable, but at the same time you have to do Something to make the defense understand they have to defend that downfield throws. Like i said, confused.  I guess I'm going to review the game for myself and look closely at his mechanics and stuff because if he actually fixed that stuff it explains the better throws. And that has been my biggest objection, or what I see as the thing that makes or breaks his chances, that unorthodox dropback and tippy toe action and not having his feet set which limits velocity etc etc.
    • The negative Nancy in me (or objective?) says that they had a bye week to prepare for the Chiefs. However, it’s one thing to have a good plan and it’s another to actually execute it. For all the flack he’s received (from me as well), Bryce seemingly has put his head down and worked his tail off and his play is giving me hope. The first 18-game Bryce showed no progression whatsoever. He gets benched, comes back, and has shown steady progress every week he has started. I think I’m starting to see what the Bryce lovers and unconditional defenders were saying all along, and I hope he can show that on a regular basis for the sake of our QB1 position.
    • Yeah, we could still very well end up 4-13 with the 2nd pick.   I think LVR has the inside track for 1, with only a JAX team as a team on docket that could be beatable.
