Observations of the Houston Texans, our Week 2 opponent

Having just read JJ's article, it brings to mind a question I've had, and here seems as good a place to ask it as any.

Several commentators and Huddlers have noted that Cam seems to be running a bit more slowly than in the past.  J. Jones noted that too.

Is Cam wearing more protective gear now than in the past?  I think I remember reading that he was going to continue wearing the rib protector this year even though he's healthy.

Is it true he's wearing more protection?  Could that be a factor in his seemingly slower speed?

I haven't read the whole thread, so apologies if this is already posted but J. Jones at the Observer watched all of JJ Watts' snaps and has quite a good analysis of what to expect in the matchups with him on Sunday.  Really good reading.

With Olsen talking about the difficulty of blocking Watt and the team needing him down the field to make plays. What about the idea of utilizing Swole as a "spy" on Watt? Wherever Watt lines up...Swole lines up. If he lines up as a DT, Swole lines up as shallow back on that side. No matter what Watt is always doubled and Swole is a physical beast to somewhat lessen the physicality that Watt brings.

Sure it makes it 10 on 11 if you dedicate a blocker for watt right? But the defense is already at a disadvantage because of having to spy Cam. This simply makes it even ground. Plus the occasional time to have Swole actually engage and the swing out for the screen.

I probably shouldn't think out loud in the main forum huh?

I think like CRA said earlier, this is a tough matchup for us. I do think we win, but it'll be a lot closer and bigger chance of an upset than Jax. Defensively I'd guess the two teams are pretty even. I'm pretty sour on our DL right now. We're no longer elite there. LBs are still good, even if Luke is out. And our secondary is underrated.

Where the game will be won or lost is on the offenses (and to a lesser degree STs). They have no QB or RB, we have no WRs and seemingly not much of a run game so far. We're going to have to absolutely demolish whoever their QB is to keep the score low and let our D win this game for us. They'll have the same game plan. It'll just come down to which offense breaks a big play more often. We all know sometimes our defense lets scrub QBs get big plays, if we can avoid that I think Cam wills us to a win (as he often does).

I like the idea of keeping a dedicated blocker in the backfield to spy Watt.  Keep Cam upright and healthy because Watt is a beast.
