It's time to start getting Swole on the field

First of all, this isn't some infatuation with the guy.  He knows how to block.  I'm saying put him in there to block.  That's not infatuation, that's common sense.

Second of all, people saying he sucks, can't play, etc...based exactly on what???  He never plays.  If you're going to try to use that as "evidence" then you better be real fuging glad that Silatolu and Chandler got hurt last year or you could say the same thing about Remmers and Norwell.  Not getting playing time on a RR led team =/= sucks.

Third of all, the talk about Dickson or Lucas are COMPLETELY missing the point.  The point is Williams is a good BLOCKER.  Dickson and Lucas aren't.  BLOCKING is why I want him to get into the two TE sets.  If he finally gets some passes thrown his way?  Icing on the cake.  But the point of getting him out there is to BLOCK so that Olsen DOESN'T HAVE TO AS MUCH.  Olsen is our only receiving threat.  You want to put in Dickson or Lucas so Olsen can stay in and block and THEY can go out and catch passes?  Ludicrous.

I agree.  We've kept him this long, we obviously see something in him.  It's time to start using him now.  Kinda like junk laying around the house:  my rule is if I haven't used it in a long time it gets thrown away, given away, or sold.  Well, Ron and Shula, it's time to poo or get off the pot when it comes to Williams.

All I'm a say is that one of this staffs most track proven weaknesses is not playing young players with talent in favor of veterans.

I don't know what Williams brings to the table because I haven't seen him play. Many thought Norman was a goner after 1 1/2 seasons in Rivera's dog house, and now he's our no. 1 who some may worry can we afford him.

Tre Boston, better than DeCoud and Harper, Bene better than Cason, Funchess better than Brown, CAP better than Whittaker, this continuous trend to bring young players along SOOOOOO slowly IMO hurts us more early, because after the vets struggle year in and out under this staff all of a sudden a youngster emerges and we're left with the question...

"What the hell took so long for ya'll to make this change?"

How about put him out there first, we all know we have stubborn gameplanners, and try something different instead of status quo or default bullshit!

All of you that say he can't play are hilarious.  Status quo is what y'all like.

I say replace Tolbert with Swole as a JOAT while we play two TE sets so Greg could be split wide and also to give Cam better protection, Stewart better run blocking, and Cam better dump options or allow Swole to motion as a wide to run go routes or post routes.  But Jesus Christ be creative, we have options believe it or not.  Chip Kelly does not break offensive rules but creates new boundaries that other coaches dare not touch which makes him a leader in the sense through his innovation and approach to the game.

Dickson, Swipe, and Olsen all 64 or taller.  Why don't we use our strength to mask our weakness.  Our TE crew is above average!  Plus defenses cannot guess run or pass with the set-up with the lack of WR presence.  Will we be slower yes but what is our goals: TOP domination which helps our ailing defense, first downs manageability, uncertainty for defenses, easier touchdowns, and a stronger ground game.  Sounds like a solution that could help our ineptitude we call offense.  TE split wide for stronger blocking, more schemes, and just so much more possibilities.

Here are some painful reminders.^^^

Also bring back Marcus and let's give this idea a go.  Panthers be brave and be bold, come on Shula you know you want to.

Nice article!

Brandon Williams sucks. He's a freak physical specimen, that's it. He can't run routes or catch the ball and he whiffs on blocks or gets lost and doesn't know his assignment. Just because he looks great shirtless doesn't mean anything.

It's just like Ginn/Philly/Hill/Byrd/etc and the Huddle's infatuation with them because they run really fast and how everyone was upset they kept Cotchery over anther younger,  speed guy. Cotchery is average,  he's old and slow, but he's the only WR on the entire roster that can actually catch the ball. Those guys might be really fast but not a single one of them can catch the damn ball. It took Ginn exactly one game to do what he did regularly in 2013; get wide using his speed then drop an easy TD. They suck.

You are a idiot, the limited snaps he got last season and this preseason he showed he could block and catch. Do some homework

I have been anxiously waiting for Brandon Williams to become that TE that many fans have been talking up for a couple of years now.

But, I've got to be honest, it's not looking too good at all.

I see no reason why we can't run more 2 TE sets with Olsen, and Dickson though.

I think what Williams has become is the next Gary Barnidge.

Every fanbase has fans who fall in love with backups.  Ours seem to go for backup tight ends.

You are EXACTLY right. If he looked like Olsen or Dickson people wouldn't give a damn about him. He's a Huddle favorite SOLELY because of his nickname and his body.
