The Texans Are Already Wearing Their Rose Colored Glasses

Speaking of Koolaid we had a guy in the other page say Stewart=Charles....

http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/11307/jamaal-charles

http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/11247/jonathan-stewart

Stewart has had to split carries and Charles has an entire seasons worth of carries more than Stew but there is a clear drop off for Stewart and Charles is clearly the more dynamic back...you will be what your stats said you were when it's all said and done can't give Stewart the nod based on potential or what ifs.

Should we have feed Stewart after drafting him and gotten rid of Williams the next year? yes
Did we? no

That said would Charles have had the career he's had on our team? probably not

Why the fug does every teams fans think they're going to put up 30+ on us? lol

We allowed 23.4 pts per game last year.....

We won't have Kuechly this week and we boast a weaker offense which always impacts a D.

I think how "dominate" our D is at the moment is a tad overstated around here.   Now, I don't think the Texans are putting up 30 put there are plenty of reasons why opposing fans can think we can be scored on.

I agree with the majority of posts here.  It will be a tight contest, decided by a FG or TD.  And like has already been stated, I give us the slight edge due to better QB play.  Cam's game presence and decision making has improved 10 fold since his rookie year--we all remember the Bills and Vikings debacles.  We have won tight games versus the Dolphins, Cardinals, Saints, to name a few.  And just yesterday Cam led a game clinching 4thQ drive that sealed any comeback bid Jax could have mustered.  Cam will be the reason we win this game.  He's much more cerebral than Panthers fans and the media give him credit for.

Texan fans really don't know anything about our team. They look at the roster and the only name they recognize is Cam Newton. They really want a win on Sunday, so they lie to themselves and come to the conclusion that we're terrible, and all we have is Cam Newton. Then they make the final step of convincing themselves that Cam Newton is also terrible. Now they can believe what they want to believe without the truth getting in the way. Unintelligent people do this all the time. They believe what they want to believe, and then work backwards to change or dismiss the facts to match their false beliefs.

"Guys I just researched the Panthers and the only good player they have is Cam Newton, and he's not that good. We're going to win 40 to nothing! This will be our easiest game of the year! I'm so happy right now! It's almost like we're 1-1 already. I feel so good about next Sunday and our cakewalk win."

Now a person who is even slightly intelligent can clearly see that the above statement is delusional. Some people just want to feel good, and they don't actually want the facts. They don't follow the news, and they alter information they receive to make it fit what makes them feel good. Give them a fact that makes them feel nervous or unhappy, and they'll deny or alter it to make it fit their delusional world view. They don't care about the facts. They care about feeling good and calm about the future. They're dummies basically. Clueless and delusional, they live in the moment, and life washes over them like a tidal wave while they go out to collect the fish and crabs on the shore. That's buttfug Texas for you.

Clowney due back soon or he on pup?

He played Sunday on a snap count.

He will get even more reps against us b/c he felt good.  He will be looking to ball out BIG time.  I don't care that he hasn't done poo yet in the NFL.  A matter of him simply getting on the field.  This game will mean a lot for him being at his home (20 minutes away)

Why does it consistently feel like members of the huddle are a lot more knowlegeable of all the teams around the league than fans of any other team are of us. It's like not only do they not try to learn about us the thought of doing so is like a disgusting waste of time to them.

These jack offs don't even respect our defense.

why didn't this quote get more pie....????????????/

You know, stuff like this doesn't bother me.

I do, however, find it funny that we are disrespected and underestimated EVERY season.  Do people in other markets not pay attention?  Have they not seen us win back to back division championships, win a playoff game last year, and win games with DEFENSE?  Teams who win games with great D scare me a HELL of a lot more than teams with great O's.

I'm not saying we're world beaters.  But I think it's a silly thing to say for ANY team in the NFL (with no exception) that it will be an easy W in Charlotte.  Hell, we might lose... but we are a tough fugging football team with a top 10 defense and a dynamic QB.  That should always be respected.

Truth of the matter is that they have two below replacement-level QBs. Add their non-existent running game versus our stout front 7, and I doubt they crack 60 yards rushing. DeAndre Hopkins is a good WR but I will take Norman on him any day. Nate Washington is essentially Cotch, a possession receiver with 2 good years and a bunch of other years with stats that show what he really is, a #3 WR at best. Watt is a problem, but they got carved up by ultra-conservative game manager Alex Smith. This might be the one game that Shula's dink-and-dunk game call actually works in our favor. They have by far the worst kicker in the league in Bullock, and a subpar rest of ST. I can't see them putting up more than 20 on us unless we give up the ball deep in our own zone.

There is so much win in this post. I would add that constant naysayers are the opposite and care more about looking like they're the smartest guy in the room by pointing to reasons we will lose or how the front office should have done something different than they care about the team winning.

But in the end, it's all about fans wanting to believe something about themselves that isn't true.

    • Strange, every news article and tweet I just searched all mentioned waivers. It is definitely his sixth year of at least 6 games. All I was trying to think of earlier was at the vet min could he beat out Bryce in camp next year lol. He's kinda got the old Darnold issue where he can obviously launch deep balls and qb run at a level Bryce will never achieve, but it sounds like he would be content being like a Josh Allen backup who doesn't throw the whole game plan out the window if he has to come in for a series or two. If we had him and for some reason still wanted to start Bryce he would kinda do what Justin Fields was doing the other night with Dangeruss, coming in for designed runs and maybe some play action/triple option rpo things to go deep. That would be so obvious and sad though. At least Russ can still sling it 40 yards in the air with a flick of the wrist
    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
