Ginn and Brown are our top 2 WR's.  If they were numbers 3 and 4, we could use them to fill those niche roles where they only run those types of routes.  But if they are gonna start for us, we need to be able to mix up the play calling and ask them to do different things if we want to become an effective offense.  If it were as easy as asking them to only do a couple of things that they do well, i think every offense in the NFL would have no problems moving the ball.

I think our run blocking was as concerning as anything.  That makes everything a lot harder.

agreed and agreed.  It's impossible to sum up in two sentences what should happen to an offense in 70 plays.   You can't do just "this" or "this and that".   Brown, for instance, is a better intermediate route runner right now than deep guy, no matter his speed.

I do believe that there need to be a few more shorter calls and I'd more liberally sub in Cotchery to get those five yard type routes handled, but in the end, it's also on Cam to honor his statements of finding that dumpoff when needed.

Shula should take a note from the Cowboys game plan.  They were lackluster most of the game but the short quick hitters were effective and exactly what we need to be doing with our receivers.  Also interesting how they used Dunbar, could be an interesting way to utilize Fozzy's skill set.

This. I know it's two different QBs and two different schemes, but it was really effective. And with the depth we have at RB, it only seems logical to at least consider using more routes in the flat and more options for check downs.

Yesterday, we kind of showed offense is still not quite ready for prime time. Our passing game was, pretty sad .. bad routes, slow receivers, drops, a few sailed passes and a bum call or two by the refs. Our running game was, honestly, not that good ... especially against a Jaguars team missing three defensive starters. Too many field goals when we had every opportunity for touchdowns.

I really hope we can get this together by this coming Sunday. We came away with a win Sunday, but it won't get easier this weekend.

It just doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the team is giving you a 9 man front all night and the oline is giving up pressure yet your calling pass plays where all wr's running deep routs. Thats when cam should have the liberty to change the play to quick routes. Cam could call a better game than shula, let him run.

Who ever called that last series brilliant you have officially been brainwashed three straight runs for no gain against a 9 man front on the their 30 why we were not trying to get a TD is another thing that got me hot, playing for the field goal and it was missed.

Also, as I posted in another thread, there were at least 2 plays where 2 receivers were running their pattern in the exact same area.

That's poor play design IMO.

Stupid comment . Think about it. No one designs a play for multiple receivers to be in the same area. That is always someone running the wrong route.

maybe not rocket science but you might want to read some more about football. With 9 guys in the box you don't throw quick hitters which is throwing it right into the defense.  You throw it over the top to loosen up the box and keep the safeties deeper. And the last series was simply running out the clock when we had a 2 score lead. You don't throw it and risk an incomplete which stops the clock or an interception.

Some of you guys really know jack poo about football and actually calling a offensive game plan. There were literally 17 points left out on the field because of piss poor execution and the pundits were even praising our ability to drive down the field literally at will but you fuggin blind idiots only want to sit there and talk pooh about fuggin Shula because he doesn't play the way you play in madden.

That last drive that knocked out 7 minutes of clock to ice the game was fuggin brilliant and hell no you don't take unnecessary risks in a game that YOU ALREADY have a 2 score lead and you are able to kill the clock. Ask the Giants how they wish they could kill the clock like we did and actually have a defense rested and able to seal the deal.

You guys are so memorized and obsessed with having a high octane offense you could give two actual fugs about getting the W as long as you can brag about how great we looked passing the ball. Aka See the Chud era. Worked really well for us didn't it.

Hmmmm. You are absolutely right, no one would do that!...But then again. Thinking a little bit more about it, there might actualy exist one genius stupid enough to do this. I'm thinking of the OC who gave this comment to David Newton, ESPN in the preseason :

""I'd probably be more worried if we had scored on every drive"

I couldn't have said it better myself.

And even if we did got those 17 points, some of these same people will still bitch about Shula. I swear Shula is damned if he do, and damned if he don't. I'm glad that Gettleman is running the team and not some random huddler.

Im going to say this again. No matter who you put out there if you dont call the right plays at the right time it does not matter. Shula is avg most cases but play call he is on another world of terrible. Kinda like lining up Bersin as the only WR against SEA in the playoffs. That play might have worked if say... KB was playing, but not Bersin.
