Would you rather.. Extend Norman or sign a FA WR

The WR free agent market next summer is pretty bare, even for mid-level talent.

We should have already signed a FA WR in the offseason, one that matters, not what we did with scrubs.  It would have been a bit of an overpay, but Torrey Smith would look good here right now, wouldn't he?   Even someone like Stevie Johnson would look great right now.  Instead, we threw the dice and we failed.   Even with KB coming back at that time, we needed a proven option with some speed to go WITH Funchess.   It was obviously we needed speed and while Ginn was nice, he is a #3/4 at best.   Not having speed killed us last year, that and Shula, but we could have at least helped one half, and that wasn't going to be done with a #4 WR in Ginn and an undrafted player in Corey Brown.   Unfortunately, Oher looked bad in the first game and we may suffer there as well but in fairness there was way less options at LT than WR.  We completely swung and whiffed at not getting WR help this offseason.

Norman will have to have an amazing season to get paid top 5 money.  He's actually a bit on the older side for cornerbacks too, which is something we need to think about.    He had some good plays but some iffy ones as well, he has to get those under wraps to be a top 5.

I don't think the two are mutually exclusive. We can supplement our receiving corps now,  and perhaps  draft another WR next year. Norman is not going to get extended most likely until after the season anyway. 

BTW,  with all the talk about what we're going to draft---what we should draft---Gman is going to draft who he feels is the BPA.  If that's a corner,  wide receiver, defensive end,  linebacker or whatever,  you know that's what he is going to do.

J-No. All draft everything. Only external FA should be role players. You can't give big money to outside FA. It upsets current players and the teams that do it, skins, raiders, fins, all suck. Draft a FAST WR along with DE or S early in the draft and we stay competitive.

Patriots did pretty well with a Randy Moss signing some time back.  Welker did pretty well in NE and Denver before injuries.   Emanuel Sanders has had a good run with Denver so far.   Jerry Rice in 2001 for the Raiders.  Ed McCaffrey in 1995.   Shannon Sharpe to the Ravens.    Those are just WRs/TEs.    Boldin as another who has been good for his teams.   Marshall, despite a bit of a headcase, has produced.  Vincent Jackson in Tampa. 

No, indeed you draft most of your players but supplement with that one person or two you need, especially on a team that really had only a couple holes last year like ours.

I vote for Neither, we will have to address Charles Johnson next. We are not getting the pressure we need from our front 4, and Johnson's contract is coming to an end. We need to think about DE next, then Norman.
