Josh Norman has a message for the haters

well was he or was he not?  i actually said i was pumped about the play.  but it's a FACT that he was out of position.  i wasn't bashing him for being out of position; au contraire, i was actually praising him.  read the freaking post instead of making a shallow inference.

What actually happened was that one of our defensive backs (can't remember which one) did a good job jamming a Jaguar receiver at the line.  The Jacksonville receiver never got a good start and this allowed Norman to play off a bit, which put him in a position to make the interception.  At least that is what the guys on the radio said.

Norman also said that Bortles had his eyes locked on the receiver the whole time, and receivers are allowed to make plays in situations such as that.

lol Norman had a hard break on a thrown ball.  you people talking about out of position act like he shadowed the target receiver from the snap.  he shot out like a cannon when the ball was thrown.  it was a great read and react.  now will more experienced QBs exploit this?  quite possibly, if it had been a pump fake Norman probably would have bit and his guy would have been left without much help but this is how a lot of the "ball hawk" CBs play.  gamble big, sometimes you win big (today) others you'll lose big.  the hope is that when you win big in that situation, it has a greater impact than when you lose big.  today I think that defensive td was a huge momentum shift that allowed us to hang onto control of the game.

He played a solid game--still not a top 10 CB.  That does not make me a hater--it makes me a realist.  Some of you want to put players in Canton for making a play or two.  He is peaking, and he is confident.  Good.  Does not mean he gets $70 million.

Top 10 CB?  Maybe, maybe not.  I'm not ready to make that claim either.  Worth top CB money?  No, not yet.  He keeps playing for the rest of the year like he did today and he will get top CB money from someone (or a franchise tag).

And he made more than a play or two today, heh.  A pick six, a forced fumble + recovery, a TFL or two (cant remember exactly how many) and at least two pass breakups is a gaudy statline for a CB.

Holy poo.  Are you guys reading what your typing?

Maybe he should have stuck with his man and let the completion happen that fuging narcissistic bastard!!!

He got burned twice leading up to the Jaguars TD. Norman jumped the pump when he was suppose to have the deep zone in Cover 3 and Bortles let it go to a wide open Hurns. Then Norman was caught looking into the backfield when he was suppose to be playing man. That led to a Jaguars TD.

Then he jumped the route on the next Jaguars drive when it was the same cover 3 where he had the deep zone. He caught Bortles sleeping and got a TD.

Same deal both times for Norman. He left his responsibility of being the deep zone to beat Davis to the receiver the first time, and he jumped in front of Coleman the second time. Players were there to make the play. Norman decided to make it his own instead of having his teammates' back.

Rivera, Harper, Bene, Davis and Coleman all let him know about it.

The only reason we needed Norman to get a pick 6 is because he let the team down by giving up a big play and a TD on the same drive while trying to go for the pick 6.

Good cb's take chances and get picks and sometimes get burned, you follow Rivera's defense in the secondary and it leads to the other team dinking and dunking and beating the coverages.

If he doesn't jump the earlier route, the Jaguars still march down and get the score... on the TD not a lot he could've done on that, ball was in the wr hands before most of the secondary reacted.

Have to go back and look at the jumps earlier in the game again.

The one thing I am surprised no one has acknowledged yet is that Josh forced 2 turnovers today. In the first half he also forced a fumble and recovered the ball. 2 turnovers in 1 game and 1 of them being returned for a TD is a pretty fugin awesome day.

His 89'esque antics I can do without... but creating 2 turnovers today was incredible. MVP status for Josh Norman at the moment.

He harms the team as much as helps the team. That seems to be the issue.

Did he get the game ball in the locker room? That would be telling.

Its weird because Josh said he was in great positiom and was surprised Bortles even threw the ball

i mean i get the posters here have a better understanding of what his particular role is on a given defensive play than he does so i domt get why he's just so confused. Especially with all these posters here who clearly demonstrate routinely that they know that theyre looking at when watdhing individual performances.

I think what this may ultimately boil down to is that Panther fans dont know what good *wide receiver* play looks like.
