My General Thoughts, and An In-depth Analysis: Panthers v. Jags by B/R's Bryan Knowles

When it comes to media perception this game is a lose lose situation. All of a sudden somehow we're considered on the same level as the raiders and Browns. I've heard talk on sports radio about how this is the worst game of the weekend. Really? With Cam Newton and the Defensive player of the year?

So if we win even in convincing fashion, it's going to be well it's the Jags. Lose and it's going to be see the Panthers can't even beat the jags. Just have to win this one and keep pushing forward.

the best post I've read about this game in regards to all the media threads

That's true, but there is between 21 and 9 or even 21 and 13.

Panthers 27 to 17

I guess we're just interpreting "3 scores" differently.  When I say 3 scores I mean it would take 3 possessions for the other team to tie it. Up 9 would only be up 2 scores--a touchdown and a field goal. See what I mean? I get what you're saying, just miscommunicated.

If I'm being more realistic I think we win by 10-14 as well. I don't think they'll put up 17 though. More like 6-13.

I think it's easy to overlook the Jags. But then again, a lot of Jags fans are clearly overlooking you Panthers fans and your team. I really do believe we have a tough game against your front 7. Our defense is definitely suspect but as I stated in another post, they can be a decent unit. I really like what I've seen from Bortles, although it's only been pre-season. Our team overall is headed in the right direction and not just because I'm a Jags fan but yes I do think the Jags can upset the Panthers tomorrow afternoon. It really hinges on Bortles though. I generally try and follow the Panthers throughout the season but will be the first to admit that I don't know nearly enough about your team and won't even pretend to. Win or lose, I'll be back to either congratulate you all on a win or talk about the loss. I've never been a fan of smack talk. Good luck to those Panthers tomorrow but obviously as a Jags fan, I hope my team wins. Pleasure reading this forum guys.

Good luck to your team.  Hope it's a really solid year of progress for you.... just hope your success begins in week 2 AFTER we beat you!  Glad for you that Bortles seems to have improved.  We'll see on the field later today.  But as our fellow expansion franchise, would love to see you guys get to experience a number of strong winning seasons.

I hope your owners / FO will be patient.  You've got a team with so many new and/or very young starters.  As we've learned here, it can take 1 or 2 years for the team to really work together effectively as a team, even with lots of great talent on the field.

I did a quick writeup, if anyone wants a look:

Magnus, I appreciate  your obvious knowledge of the Xs and Os, but I am surprised that you have seemed to bought into the Robinson-is-JAG narrative. I have watched him, and he is pretty good. Hurns didn't really outshine Robinson as much as he was the last man standing last year.  Robinson was on his way to leading that group and becoming a very effective NFL receiver before injury derailed his rookie year. Admittedly,  Hurns could do better today as I assume they may try and double Robinson,  but I still think Robinson is the better receiver (and possibly one of the better ones league wide).
