Think coaching staff (schemes) and work environment (expectations) have something to with it, too. Seems our players go to other teams and do better and have for years.

Mike Mitchell

Captain Munnerlyn

Gary Barnidge

Richard Marshall

Dan Morgan

The now returned Ted Ginn

...and others.

Carolina actually has a pretty good track record when it comes to letting guys go.

I can't think of many, but if I had to, I would say that Moose and Mathis are the only ones that really jump to mind.

As I was typing I forgot Spoon.

Witherspoon's a great example.

If you want to cringe about letting players walk before they should have...look at the Chargers.....

They seemed to do it over and over and over again...and many of those guys are still playing at high levels in the NFL.

VJax

Sproles

Turner

Vasquez

And before that Harrison and Seau, and they may see Weddle depart this offseason.

There are some mitigating circumstances here.

VJax had two suspensions and was one away from a year ban as I recall.

Sproles they shoulda paid, agreed.

The Patriots actually lured Seau out of retirement to play for them, too bad they didn't leave him alone. Might still be alive.

I suspect moving forward the Chargers might do better as their GM at the time AJ Smith was a pure douche. See LT and Schotty.

I hope they pay Weddle, hellova player.

Sorry the post says I'm quoting Panthro and not thefuzz, quotes continues to be fubar.

I remember the VJax thing very well, but you could have put the correct wording in the contract, but they let him walk.

Think how good that team would have been on O with Vasquez, VJax, and Sproles back there to assist Rivers.

Woulda been outstanding, I suspect Phillip with the new rookie RB will be heard in the AFC West this year.

The definition of "dogging" it would be not talking to reporters all season for at the time was for reasons unknown, gaining fifteen pounds, and going down at first contact when he ran. All the while contriving what was, according to Jeremy, a "fake" personality on social media.

Then, upon getting word that you are going to be released, airing your grievances in an interview because the team was too busy to go to your mom's funeral in a move so awful the NBC Charlotte affiliate that ran it brings on STEVE SMITH, who had just finished incinerating the bridges with the franchise that season, and he looked like the good guy, talking about how great Mr. Richardson was and all.

There's a reason the number of our "greatest running back ever" was re-issued immediately. It's not like we WANT to hate on the guy. He earned it.

D Will going down at first contact has to be the one of the most overrated myths in huddle history, as far as reporters go i don't know anything about that or the cause of it but seems like everyone seems to forget the main issue that could have cause this, which is the passing of hi mother, for a guy that has been with us a number of seasons and been a modest player for us,seems kind of off that he would all of a sudden turn into this douche bag. No prior incidents of what apparently occurred last season, Not a peep from teammates or coaches, so i find it hard to believe a guy would just do a 180 so fast without cause, and can we please stop with the smith burned bridges thing or disrespect the franchise, smiths beef has always been with DG and Rivera, nothing more, he's never disrespected the fans of carolina during the time or the owner, with is a bigger part of the franchise then DG and Rivera, every players beef has been with the FO not the organization as a whole or fans....haven't seen a legitimate ex player that has "earned" hate, as long as they when were here they tried their best to get us to a superbowl and win i will never have a gripe with a ex panther

Thomas Davis is the only athlete I'd wager money on being a genuinely nice human being. If there was ever an athlete to look up to, it's TD.

Most athletes are assholes, which is no different from most nonathletes. And the ones that try the hardest to hold an appearance as a nice guy are usually the biggest dickbags.

I would add Greg Olsen to the list of genuinely nice guys. JJ Jansen and Josh Norman, too

if that's your definition of "dogging" it is getting injured, cool by all means go and convince the world that, if you believe d will magically found motivation this offseason and had none after his mom passed, I've got some air i'd like to sell you, premium quality stuff.

i guess every player that leaves here finds this magical motivation, or has been dogging it, lafell,smith,hardy?,peppers....list goes on

believe what you want no one is twisting you arm

Wonder if a player had kept himself in better shape and not 15 lbs overweight if that would have helped him with regard to potential injuries?
