Nulified 5th year option, new deal starts next season. Deal runs through 20-21 season.

12.4 avg per year

3rd in NFL among LB in contract value, 3rd in avg per season value only behind Houston and Matthews in both categories.

No details on guaranteed money, but I think he'll be second behind Houston and get around 30-32 guaranteed.

By far the highest paid 4-3 LB, next closest is David and Wagner at 50.3 million(10m per) and 43 million (10.75m per) respectively.

Luke doesn't sack quarterbacks or defend TDs. Tackles are high volume stats that anybody can get. D-linemen get tackles too but they don't even mention them most of the time. Luke is a beneficiary of what D-linemen do. D-linemen don't benefit from any other position because they're the front line. A 'smart' LB with little athletic pride can collect a bunch of half tackles and pad their stats. They call that trick of the trade. Luke knows the trick of the trade. That's why you always hear announcers mention that "he's involved in every play". If he were a CB, per se, he wouldn't be involved in every play since there is no reward for doing so.

I think they need to remove half tackles and tackles pass the line of scrimmage as part of the stat. Defensive players should not be rewarded for allowing a RB to pick up 10 yards and then tackle him. The steelers ate us alive on the ground last year while defensive players like Kuechly was still collecting his tackle tackle stats. Only tackles behind the line of scrimmage should count.

i agree man i've always thought that luke was a fraud

Knew we could count on you to come to this thread and say something ridiculously stupid and uninformed.

Are you this dumb in everyday life? If so, I'd question whether you can even tie your own shoes.

Ya know, if you really wanna mess with his head, you should point out to him that Luke is now the highest paid player at his position while the players he favors aren't.

(that oughtta help melt those last few remaining brain cells)

there aren't many people who have anything less than high praise for this extension.  it was seen as about as much of a no-brainer as there is for a player who is just getting started on what promises to be an amazing career.

we all know what people like haplo really mean when they talk about the things they do.  i mean trying to imply that he's not athletic is laughable but it does speak to a particular stereotype.
