You people whine about the media too much

I feel like the old "we get no respect!" thing has reached an all-time high here on the Huddle.

If these Falcon-loving, Jaguar-picking, Panther-bashing analysts bother you so much where your heart starts racing and you get legitimately pissed off, there's a simple thing you can do: change the f'ing channel. When it comes to analysis of smaller market teams, these guys don't know jackshit. Listen when a national guy comes on a radio show like the Mac Attack, it's as if they just got done reading Panthers Cliffs Notes 2015 and want to give their "expert opinion". These national guys give factual errors about the team all the time. Heard a guy talk about how awful Cam supposedly was this preseason. Recently heard another guy talk about how Shaq Thompson would be playing safety/running back for us. You know exactly what I'm talking about too. You can hear it in their voices: they're literally faking most of what they supposedly know about the Panthers.

So don't let that stuff bother you. We're usually bad when they say we'll be good and we're usually good when they say we'll be bad. If you're hardcore enough of a Panthers fan to be posting on the Huddle, it is not an exaggeration to say that you literally know more about the Panthers than paid "experts" like Adam Schein or random NFL.com guy or Herm Edwards. Why should you care about the opinion of someone less knowledgeable than you on a subject?

because. I live my life vicariously through a football team. An attack on them is like a personal attack. I am an important cog to this teams success and I will not let people throw shade on me. Football for life and all that shenanigans.

I honestly don't understand it either.  I don't let it annoy me. The media is going to media no matter what the subject.

dude you are speaking latin with that. Folks around here are fighting each other to be the first to post the latest tweet, to say some mess that has been done 15x before in previous threads, or otherwise just gripe.

All know the logic of which you speak, but it doesnt matter. They are chasing internet forum fame and pie~ Its like a race to be the biggest wanker~

I dont see too much negative stuff around here, because anyone that dares to speak negative of the team is beaten down (usually with lame gif) for even daring to have a different perspective.

Don't give a sh%t what any one or any media outlets say or think about this team. I am visiting D.C this week and proudly drIving my truck around with a front Panther plate and a a team magnet on the tailgate. Give me the stink eye.......just don't mess with my truck.

What is worse whining because of the media, or a thread whining about the whining? Then again I'm whining about you whining about them whining...whiningception!

wtf!!!

Something needed to be said. People seriously need to quit worrying about those idiots in the media that are paid to spew bullshit. Their opinions dont affect the outcome of the game so who cares

    • Strange, every news article and tweet I just searched all mentioned waivers. It is definitely his sixth year of at least 6 games. All I was trying to think of earlier was at the vet min could he beat out Bryce in camp next year lol. He's kinda got the old Darnold issue where he can obviously launch deep balls and qb run at a level Bryce will never achieve, but it sounds like he would be content being like a Josh Allen backup who doesn't throw the whole game plan out the window if he has to come in for a series or two. If we had him and for some reason still wanted to start Bryce he would kinda do what Justin Fields was doing the other night with Dangeruss, coming in for designed runs and maybe some play action/triple option rpo things to go deep. That would be so obvious and sad though. At least Russ can still sling it 40 yards in the air with a flick of the wrist
    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
