Is it me, or are there a lot of analyst ACTUALLY picking the Jags?

Luke JJockle is a turnstile at LT.  I don't care how much you improve when you LT can't stop back up DEs it's going to be a long day. But I forgot our team is terrible every year how could we ever win.

First year playing LT in the NFL paired with a rookie QB?  Yeah, I would imagine that wasn't suppose to look good.  I mean, Carolina isn't the only team allowed to have growth and improvement....

Everything right now suggests they are getting that

The Jags aren't devoid of talent and could be on the brink of breaking out, it wouldn't be surprising to see them win 6 to 8 games this season. Granted the same could be said about them last season, but if they can find the consistency that they lacked last season, then they are going to win more football games this season. So I am not surprised that some have picked them to beat us because they have the play makers and young talent to cause us problems, and if they take their chances and/or we start slow, us slipping up against the Jaguars is a possibility.

That said, if we have aspirations to win a third consecutive division title and make the play offs, then these are the teams that we have to beat. We cannot afford to slip up against the Jaguars, the Texans in week two, or the following two games against the Saints and Buccaneers. We need to make sure we head into the bye week 4-0. We can't afford another slow start because the Saints, Falcons, and Buccaneers shouldn't be as bad as they were last season, and as soon as we come out of the bye week we head to Seattle, then have home games against the Eagles, Colts, and Packers. By the end of week 9 for us to have a chance we need to be at least 4-4, any worse and our play off chances are going to take a serious hit. So with a tough schedule after the bye week, we need to take advantage of these first four games and cannot afford to slip up against the Jags.

Apparently they're doing the Byron Bell thing and hoping Joeckel will improve, despite giving up 8 sacks and grading out as the worst pass blocker on the OL. And I believe he was the #2 overall pick in '13.

The media will take one thing and run with it. KB is down, all of a sudden The Panthers are sucky, they are a horrible organization for not getting Cam weapons and Hurney is the worst GM to date.

When in reality, they dismissed the fact the O line was revamped and is upgraded. They went out and spent a 2nd round pick on a weapon. One of Cam's older weapons was brought back. His weapon of choice is still on the team, healthy and ready to go. Oh and by the way, we have a new GM.

Perspective gentlemen.

Fwiw, some of what various analyst think about us is not completely without merit.  At this point, some in the media doesn't believe we upgraded the offensive line, because Oher played poorly last year, and our other primary addition is an untested rookie.  Funchess is also a untested rookie, who only played one game against the backups in preseason.

Fortunately, what the media thinks has no impact on how we perform.  We get to prove it on the field.

No,  he is still a turnstile if you watched there second and third preseason games. You do love talking out of your ass though. It's something you have done well for many years.

Ok, I don't watch the Jags b/c they are the Jags.

I could link you to several articles by people that follow they team that have reported on the improved play...that is what I was going off of.  He basically got whipped on 1 play bad this preseason.  I kind find a play where Luke Kueckly tried to tackle someone and looked like a bum this preseason.....so I hope you aren't putting your entire opinion on just one play vs. Pitt.

But I guess you have been watching all the Jags preseason games and formed this opinion.  That is kinda weird.  Not sure I trust anyone that would find watching that entertaining....

and I am sure you already knew about how he never has really had an offseason and that has hurt his ability to go into seasons ready for the load to give him.  Like last year, was his first season in the NFL playing LT paired w/ a rookie QB.....would have been nice he had the offseason to get strong and add weight.  He was rehabbing though a knee injury.

Healthy offseason? check.  Improved QB? check.  Reported improved play?  you claim no he is horrible yet people that follow that team say he is trending upward

Not really surprising, this team starts out slow...we have a question mark at LT,dude has to prove the preseason wasn't a fluke... KB is out, our only legit threat at wr... 2nd year player at DE in Ealy and CJ could get winded early.

Even with all this I think we have a better team than the Jags, will probably come down to a late interception in the 4th before the game is officially over, Panthers win 27-17

maybe.....maybe they watched the Vikings game last year.

Our 3rd string running game looked great.  Starting offense (which is all that matters), struggled all preseason attempting to run.

maybe they don't see improvements in the secondary and see it as....Carolina just got slower and old as poo on the back end.

Stew got very few carries.  He had one great run against the Patriots, two runs that went nowhere, and one or two more forgettable carries.  CAP looked great though, and Fozzy had some good moments too in the first half of the Pats game while the 1s were still playing I believe.  The run was not nearly as bad as I remembered against New England.

It took awhile to get going though.  But once it did, it was pretty effective.  Check out especially the drive that began at with 7:40 remaining in the 2nd quarter and the drive at the beginning of the 3rd.    CAP, Tolbert, CAP, Fozzy 2X... a 12 play drive, great mix of run & pass.  Would have been a TD at the end if Brown hadn't dropped it.  Instead we got a FG.

Oh and about our 2ndary looking old & slow against the Patriots?  Um... 2 interceptions of Brady by Tillman & Coleman?!  Looked pretty awesome - especially that amazing roll and steal of the ball by Tillman.  Just incredible.  RESPECT!

Qb: Panthers >>> Jags

Rb: Panthers >>> Jags

O-line: Panthers > Jags

Te: Panthers >>>> Jags

Wr: Jaguars > Panthers

D-line: Panthers >> Jags

Lb: Panthers >>>> Jags

S: Panthers > Jags

Cb: Panthers >> Jags

Am I missing something here?

BR, ESPN with Jeff Saturday.  Herm Edwards saying this is a tough decision.  I just don't get it.

I have the Panthers losing to the Jaguars by leaving the Jags in the entire game because they cannot convert through the air and the Jags will sit on the run.

Panthers go in to the 4th quarter with a 17-13 lead, and the Panthers defense slows down since the Panthers offense cannot control the ball or the clock. After 40+ minutes of the Panthers defense on the field, I see the Jags scoring a touchdown to win it in the final 4 minutes of the game.

Not like we have not seen Rivera pull that rabbit out of his hat a few times to start every season. The Bucs almost did that to the Panthers last year in week 1. Luckily the Panthers had KB to generate the offense needed to control the clock and pull that game out.
