Chris Meyers & Rhonde Barber Calling Game Against Jax

Better start drinking early...  I actually like Chris Meyers, but Rhonde Barber is horrendous.  Beyond the fact he is obviously anti-Panthers, he can't get names right and adds nothing to the broadcast.  Chris Meyers deserves better.

Not that I expected to get the A Team announcers for a game against the Jags, I just don't understand how an industry that prints money like the NFL is so hard up they need to hire guys like Rhonde.  Are there really no other aspiring announcers out there?

Expect Rhonde to not even pretend to hide his glee if the Jaguars get a lead or keep it close.  Definitely going to go with the high-gravity IPA's...

Ex-NFL players have no business as sports broadcasters. They're freaking terrible. Guys in the booth should be career announcers with an education and experience in the field. Sideline reporters should be 21-25 year old chicks with a nice smile, sexy legs, and perky tits. There's no use for washed up ball players.

Brady Quinn was really good- I was impressed.  The thing is, the professional announcers like Chris Meyers work a lot time to hone their craft, and then they get stuck with guys like Rhonde who have no business sharing the booth with him.

That's not to say Rhonde can't ever get better, but at this point he is awful.  He needs to start doing Tampa preseason games like Mike Rucker does for the Panthers.  And while I like Ruck, I don't ever want to listen to him announce a regular season game unless he massively improves.

I've probably watched over 50 Panther games where the announcers were bias against the Panthers. How do I mean? We score:

"Panthers Touchdown. So what did the Falcons do wrong on this play? What do the Falcons need to do stop the Panthers? Should the Falcons try to blitz more? It might have busted coverage."

"TOUCHDOWN JULIO JONES!!!! What a fantastic play! Just an INCREDIBLE route by the one of the best around! Let's watch his glory in slow motion! Just what the Falcons needed!"

It's so depressing hearing the announcers pull for the other team. The only time I get a break from it is when we play a team like the Jags, and the announcers don't give a damn either way. Get ready for dullness and mispronounced names. Or players being called by the wrong name altogether.

I think Meyers can drive that bus. He is pretty decent. Guys like Rhonde are relatively new and I think a lot of their prep is biased to the perceived more popular team hence the love in previous example  for Falcons v panthers.  I think the shield hopes former players can help provide insight from the field perspective unfortunately this usually translates to an awkward delivery of what we are watching.
