"We have the worst __________ in the league. We are doomed."

-The Carolina Huddle, every single fuging year.

and every year, said position group holds us back from ultimate success

It is exactly what is so amusing about the usual apologist crap from the same garbage posters year in and year out

This same bunch will be predicting a doomed season this Sunday if the other team scores first.

I'm not a doom and gloom personality type, and I think the TEAM can still win games. But, I don't think anyone can deny that our #1 and #2 WRs are the worst duo (on paper) in the NFL - right now. This may change after a few break out games by Ginn/Brown, or after Norwood or Funchess shows well and moves into those spots.

But as of the current Rivera-named 1 and 2, they are the worst in the league. We can talk about what they COULD do, but base on what they HAVE done... it doesn't look good.

Raiders aren't that much better off either. Michael Crabtree, who had a good year in 2012, but has otherwise been nothing to tell mom about in his career. Then Amari Cooper, who was great in college, but unproven as of yet as he is just a rookie. Things aren't looking great for Oakland either, folks.

We're not in a great spot, but let's not act like we're doomed.

In 2 weeks, you will hear it from everyone. In 3 weeks, the hope will change to all out screams for accountability. You will have a few who will hope the receivers make a miraculous turn around in coming out of the bye week after struggling for the first 3 weeks.

Same deal with the screams for Norwell and a Chandler/Bell replacement last season. People still wanted Bell changed to RT and Remmers put at LT when that was finally done late in the season. (only due to injury or Chadler would still be the RT and Remmers would not be a Panther.)

We all know what is coming with the passing game. Especially when a Rivera/Shula offense is known to start very slow.

you would take brown/ginn over two proven 1000-yard receivers?

its posts like that that make me see just deep the rampant homerism is on this board and why arguing with posters so deluded is such an exercise in futility

He even said a few posts later he'd take them over Michael crabtree and amari cooper lol

I had to lol at this.

This is coming from the guy who calls out Panthers fans supposedly not showing up enough in numbers to training camp in the middle of the week.

hakeem nicks , jeremy ross , duron carter and thats just naming a few. our wr core is horrible we need extra help

Only one out of those worth discussing is possibly Nicks. But I have doubts about whether or not his heart is really even in the game anymore.

We've already brought both him, and Carter in for a look previously. So it's not as if we are unfamiliar with them.

Ross has really done next to nothing, so I would rather just keep Norwood if that's my option.

yes remember how bell was supposed to be ok at LT because he's left handed? If I told you after last season that next year our starting WRs would be Philly Brown and Ted Ginn, not one person here wouldn't flip their poo.

Dallas has not won one since Bush Sr was in office.  TThe Redskins have not won one since the Iron curtain fell, and Buffalo well there is Buffalo.

Sure, there are other teams that haven't won a Superbowl either.  Doesn't mean I like it when we're still on that list.

And for the record, I don't think Brown and Ginn are the worst duo in the league...bottom third probably.  With the salary cap every team has it's weakness.

you say losing season, I say back to back division titles, so it can certainly be spun both ways.

Yeah but we only won the division last season because we had the undisputed best WR in the division last season.

NFL records have a direct link to the quality of WRs each team has.    There can be no question!

I wouldn't call them garbage posters. But he's right. By mid season most people will be blaming Cam and Ron for our failures instead of Gettleman for not doing more to upgrade the position. I'm cautiously optimistic, but people forget that this offense wasn't great last year with KB. I know Cam is healthy, but he can be perfect and it doesn't matter if the WRs aren't getting open and dropping passes.

These first four games are all must win games because we have a very possible 4 lose stretch in our schedule. We don't have time for guys to be out there trying to figure it out.

Anyone who says they'd take Ginn and Brown over anyone is basically delusional or lying...to themselves or anyone else. Don't insult people's intelligence.

That being said, I hope they can ball out. I wouldn't stake anything I own of value on it though...Maybe a peanut butter & jelly sandwich.

I don't know or really care what you're trying to say here. It's like that has been festering in you for a while and you've been looking for the first opportunity to whine about it.

it's probably the same contingent of people, i'd reckon.

Actually, there have been several years when we were concerned about one area only to see another be the problematic area.  For example, many predicted last year that our receivers would be the worst in the NFL, while our defensive line would be the best in the league.  Largely due to Benjamin, our receivers weren't as bad as predicted, while the defensive line looked horrible for a good portion of the season.   Games 3-10 last year, the defensive line allowed holes to run through that were so big that I might have been able to pick up a few yards running through them.

But it depends on how you define success.  If winning the Superbowl is the only definition of success, then 30 other teams got held back last year as well.  If making the playoffs is the definition, then we have been successful the last two years.

Don't get  me wrong, I am concerned with the receivers as well, but the point is that its way to early say its beyond dispute that we have the worst in the NFL at this point in the season.   Since people actually are disputing it, then its definitely not beyond dispute.  And for all we know, Philly might start lighting teams up.  He played like crap in the preseason, but he wasn't to bad last year.
