Philly Brown and Ted Ginn Jr are the worst starting receiver tandem in the league...

blah, blah, blah. gettles addressed the situation and got us two top-flight receivers in future all-pro KB and future other all-pro funch to pair with future all-pro greg olsen. this time a month ago we were all wacking off to the thought of those three taking the field together.

now that two of them are down everyone wants gettles to go in and replace them, ignoring the fact that replacements (1) have to be paid, (2) have to be paid at rates matching their production, and (3) need contracts that last more than a year, which heavily hampers things like roster continuity and cap dealings.

what happens next year when KB, Funch, and Olsen are your top three receivers and then the two guys you brought in off the streets and gave three-year contracts with guaranteed money are hitting the books for their salaries and you've got six WR2s on your roster? you have a hurney-esque cap mess, that's what you have, and that's 1000x worse than going into a season with ted ginn jr, greg olsen, and a promising rookie as your top receiving options to pair with a vastly-improved offensive line and a pro-bowl quarterback.

fuckin dumb babbies

Im hoping you just forgot about Funchess because he'd get picked up in a heart beat but overall I agree with you.

Funchess is really our wild card like Benjamin was last year. We can only hope we can get some good production out of him and Ginn can get away as a number 2 WR although he's not ideal there. Thank god we have Olsen and Cam can scramble...

Here we go with this again.Benjamin was no damn wild card, people like me knew he was a future star. Not his fault you didn't see it. He actually underachieved in my opinion.

Raiders aren't that much better off either. Michael Crabtree, who had a good year in 2012, but has otherwise been nothing to tell mom about in his career. Then Amari Cooper, who was great in college, but unproven as of yet as he is just a rookie. Things aren't looking great for Oakland either, folks.

We're not in a great spot, but let's not act like we're doomed.

Fortunately we're better than Oakland at almost every other position on the field.

I mean yeah of course if you watched him in college you'd say he's a freak of nature and looks a lot like Calvin Johnson and a few other elite WRs in the NFL but you never truly know how a player will pan out in the NFL or in your system so you didn't KNOW anything for sure. He's had weight issues and drop issues in college so there was no way of knowing how those would come into play in the NFL. Don't think you're a genius for noticing Benjamin's freakish god given talent because every single one of us saw it.That being said you or no one else on here has any idea what Funchess future holds so lets just hope for the best and wait and see...

BTW rookies are always a wildcard to preform in their first year. I never said Benjamin's career as a whole was a big boom or bust that could go either way, I was just saying no one knew how much production and playing time a rookie with a few flaws would get in his first year...

I think he can turn into a solid #2 WR which is what we need. I don't think he has the ceiling of KB pre-injury. A little concerned that he has yet to catch a pass from Cam in live action.

didn't people say the same thing about KB? iirc most of his catches came from anderson, especially in the preseason, and everyone was worried that his training camp chemistry wouldn't translate on the field.

by all accounts funch had a great camp and he and cam have been working together with KB on endzone drills. there's no less chemistry there than there was with KB this time last year. to that extent they were (are) both unknowns.

also remember they're going to be asked to do two very different things. KB is the archetypical possession receiver. he's not going to torch anyone but he'll come down with the ball no matter what, whereas funch is an extremely fluid route runner who doesn't need to use his body to get open, but is big enough to go up and fight for the ball. he'll make a better fit at the X.

funch - X

cotch - Y

ginn- Z

olsen - TE

it's not ideal, but jack me off six times to sunday if that isn't a serviceable lineup with a healthy cam and mid-tier offensive line.

Carolina panther fans are the biggest winnies in the league.

Name a bigger bunch of cry babys..

Do it.

Are you freakkin kiddin me?

Dallas, 49ers, Saints, Falcons, PATRIOTS just to name a few.

You must have never been to another team's forum or gone to any away games. Those 5 right there are the most douchiest and whiniest fanbases I've ever encountered. This is child's play compared to those fans.
