HS Football Players Target Ref

Here's video of a Texas high school football game. Yes, it's really Texas and it's also pretty disturbing. On what is nothing more than an off-tackle running play, 1 defensive back drills the official from behind while a second one spears the official, leading with the helmet, while the official is on the ground. Sorry, but as far as I'm concerned, that kind of poo starts at the top and the team should forfeit the entire season. You're done, goodbye, go find something else to do with your football budget...

Evidently the ref had thrown out two of their teammates the ply before which I assume was the motivation.

Apparently the coach was livid when it happened which has led to speculation that this was a decision by the player and not an ordered hit.

If that is the case then the players should be charged to fullest extent of the law and barred from ever playing football again.  I disagree however with calls for the team to forfeit the season.  That punishes innocent people that had not part in the crime, and it was a crime.

If evidence comes out that the coach(s) ordered this then they too should face charges in addition to losing their jobs.

The NCAA is always punishing kids who had nothing to do with anything, like every time they levy sanctions against a team.
