Who the fug cares about a players salery when it comes to rating a player.

Stew is the best back on the roster, and it isn't even close.

When the rookie knows the playbook, and can block as well as stew, then we'll start talking about him. Until then, he's a talented rookie that better hope that Stew stays healthy.

Healthy he might not get benched but if CAP makes the most of his touches we may see a committee along the lines of DW and Stew in years past. It just doesn't make sense to take a back with with injury history and attempt to make him a bell cow for the whole season.

I don't see it. It took ages for Stew to finally start over D.Will even after Rivera took over. Healthy, bad oline good oline he's makes way too much money this year AND next year, I dont even think we can part ways with him next year, to be benched for a rookie

In 2008 we had a veteran starter in DeAngelo Williams [273 carries, 1515 yards, 18 TDs] and a rookie running back in Jonathan Stewart [184 carries, 836 yards, 10 TDs]. Granted back then we had Jake Delhomme, who didn't run a lot, but J-Stew had a big impact as a rookie, and while I am not sure we will see this level of production from CAP, there is no doubt that CAP is talented and should have a bright future here.

In 2011 DeAngelo rushed for 836 yards, Stewart for 761 yards, and our rookie quarterback rushed for 706 yards. So unlike 2008, this time we have a dual threat quarterback. This proves that it is possible for a pair of running backs and a dual threat quarterback to have success. And it is a shame that Stewart didn't stay healthy because those three guys could have formed a scary triple headed monster.

But perhaps that monster will be Stewart, CAP, and Cam this season. As it stands we are likely to remain a run heavy team. It is possible that we could see Stewart rush for over a 1000 yards, CAP go for around 800 yards, and Cam around 500 yards. That trio could cause teams serious headaches, and by feeding Stewart and CAP, they should also help open the passing game for Cam. So I think it is possible that CAP could be in contention for offensive rookie of the year if he has a Jonathan Stewart type rookie season. The problem he will face is from the likes of Marcus Mariota, Jameis Winston, Amari Cooper, TJ Yeldon, Todd Gurley and Melvin Gordon being possibilities.
