Check out his background.  Will never be a Panther.

His background is not that bad. He left school a year early like an idiot, yes, but he does have a newborn child. Anyways, someone is going to pick this guy up because of his size and athleticism.

Though I doubt he will ever be a Panther, I hate when people say this. The Panthers have had many players with off field issues. They currently just gave a roster spot to Wegher who has had a lot of trouble in his background

Wegher's adversity has become inspirational because he took a long, hard road to overcome it. We can tolerate mistakes that were addressed with work ethic and soul searching, very well chronicled if you read up on Wegher's path to where he is.  The Panthers did their homework, I am certain.  Wegher is not a cancer, although he is risky, he is an inspiring story of hard work and perseverance,  He is the underdog in almost every sense of the word.  He is the kind of guy, regardless of his distant past, I want beside me when bullets fly.  Battle's repeated failed drug tests were recent, and he cited monetary reasons for his entry into the supplemental draft--the furthest thing from Wegher's mind. 

So one isolated case does not prove or justify any and all other decisions they make-the Panthers kept Wegher for opposite reasons the Rams cut Battle.  Apples and Oranges.
