All WR Cuts with links

Man I would LOVE Tre McBride. I honestly don't think he, or any of these guys would help us a ton this year, but he has starter quality potential. The Titans are deep at receiver and are trying to sneak him onto the practice squad. I know this doesn't mean much but some draft guys had him higher than Funchess.

IIRC, Mayo ck said he had heard he had bad interviews and that was why he slipped so far.

Wow, there simply isn't anyone on that list that can help us. Gettleman will most likely add another CB than any of these guys.

Do you realize the lack of talent and skill the Panthers have at WR?

Cotchery is used up and done. He is worse than Reggie Wayne, Hakeem Nicks, and James Jones. Cotchery would not have made any of those rosters.

Ted Ginn is a return man and not a receiver. Why do Panthers fans forget this? You will be reminded very quickly why he is at best a #3/4 for a depleted WR corps.

Corey Brown would be looking for a job right now on any other roster. He would have been canned in the first round of cuts. He has speed, can get open, but his hands are poor and he prefers to body catch it. I am tired of seeing his alligator arms with the ball in the air.

Norwood was going to be one of those cuts if the Panthers did not trade for him.

The only WR any other team would want is Funchess.

Anyone who thinks the Panthers WR talent is better than that is fooling themself. I just want to grab the upgrades now instead of waiting for week 10 to grab someone off a practice squad like last season with the OL, RB, and DB problems. We all knew about those issues at the end of preseason 2014.

Hakeem Nicks, Reggie Wayne, Duron Carter, and Jarred Abredderis would out perform Ted Ginn, Jerricho Cotchery, Corey Brown, and Kevin Norwood.

There is just too much scoffing in this thread for me, and that's in regards to both sides of the fence so to speak.

For example:

1.Reggie Wayne asked to be released.  I read that he is looking to retire.

2.Hakeem Nicks was cut,  but reportedly the Titans may pick him up after week one. Moreover,  he showed flashes of his former self late in the season last year.  I would link an article (like I did back in the spring),  but it would be to no avail with this crowd. The Colts and Titans are both deep at the position with either talent,  upside,  or both. Nicks has had a diva-ish attitude that may play a part in teams'perception of him, and this could have played into the equation,  I don't know.  But I find it ironic that people just crap on him so much when he did a lot better than Corey Brown who also had limited snaps and purportedly improved late last season as well.  They are perhaps two different types of receivers,  but Nicks was the better one,  and is probably still better for what he does.

3.Dave Gettleman traded for Kevin Norwood not out of desperation,  but because he believes strongly that the kid can help us.  Norwood was consistently projected to go somewhere in the mid rounds  (though a few had him projected to go in the late rounds). The thing is about him is that he didn't get a substantial amount of playing time at Nana,  but he did show enough potential when he was in there that he became intriguing.  I believe this may have been posted,  but I will post it again.

4.Duron Carter was already brought to Charlotte once (amid being hosted here and there),  so there was obviously some interest by our FO. The kid has some baggage,  and that led him to the CFL where he stood out,  so much so that the NFL took notice.  Sure he opted for Luck and the Colts, but it is what it is.  It's all business.  Much like Nicks, Carter got list in the numbers game of several options with a lot of upside and talent (without the baggage). Now does this mean that he doesn't  have any upside or talent? Absolutely not.

Some of you could stand to look at things a lot more analytically as opposed to simplistically.  This goes for all the prospects out there.  Gettleman isn't sitting in front of an LCD throwing out all kinds of generalizations and unfounded, baseless assumptions when evaluating these guys.  He is doing it with the purpose of upgrading our group.  Let's  just wait and see what he comes up with before exclaiming that they're all a bunch of insignificant JAGs.

Nick Toon being cut is a little surprising. I figured he would make the Saints. He is worth signing, I would say. He also knows the Saints' playbook, but, at this point, that's just one play that's labeled "Let Brees throw to whoever is open while I steal some pain pills and yell at Rob Ryan".

I would also be okay with Jalen Saunders, EZ Nwachukwu, or Greg Salas.

Another interesting one would be Ryan Broyles. He is an incredibly good receiver, whose career has been hampered with ACL injuries. Maybe TD could work with him to figure out how to better stabilize that leg?
