Yes, he is. Hes no offensive guru like Payton or Chip Kelly but he gets the job done for what we do and if not for shula, our D wouldnt be nearly as good as it is now

What? How does Shula's play calling that leads to three and outs frequently, which keeps the defense on the field all the time help them out?

I get the the Shula hate, and I agree he holds Cam Newton back on offense. The key is time of possession football. We want to hold the ball longer have longer drives than most offensive teams. This is to wear down the opposing defense and let our defense rest at the same time. It's not the most exciting offensive football to watch. However I would love to know our record with Shula when we win the time of possession battle? Anyone know, too lazy to research it.

He's not wrong about our offense helping pad the defense's statistics a bit in 2013, though the defense was still legit as fug even without it.  But it was mostly Cam with his crazy 3rd/4th down conversions and Tolbert being a beast in short yardage rather than anything special Shula did.

We owned in time of possession that season, and as much as people forget for whatever reason, our offense was extremely efficient that year other than that late season sputter we had with a hurt Cam and Smitty.  If you have an efficient offense that's top 3 in TOP, then more than likely you're going to have a top defense as well... they go hand in hand.  The Saints had the same thing that year.

If your offense is on the field the most, then obviously the opponent's offense doesn't have as many chances to rack up yards/points.  Top that off with a methodical offense that was having long clock eating scoring drives like we were, and the defense gets to pin their ears back and play aggressive while the opposing offense is likely to become more and more one dimensional.

Forget the noise about KB's injury, Shula (which is a solid OC btw, people forget 2013.)

I know my posts are usually long but I will keep this one short and to the point..

Solid O line, Solid D line a All-pro TE and a franchise QB. You just don't lose many games in this league when are are stout in the trenches on both O line and D line and have a franchise QB to pair with a franchise TE. It just doesn't happen unless catastrophe strikes

Whats going to be the team record then?

Well, you see, because of Shula's absolutely atrocious game planning, poor time management, and unwillingness to adapt we're forced to rely on the endurance and talent of the defense. The extra pressure and practice makes them better.
