Norwood will prove to be an excellent addition

top dawg

He already catches better than Philly and is faster and run routes better than Bersin.. Plus he adds the ability of being a gunner on special teams. .

He learns the playbook and he jumps Brown and Bersin on the depth chart...imo

Agreed. Honestly this shouldnt be a hard task.

I know they said he was a great route runner and hand great hands but I was impressed with his speed too. didn't realize he was that quick. Great showing for his limited time here. Them saying they had packages installed for him makes me feel they have plans for him

Come on, man. Gettleman takes all his draft picks very seriously. He isn't going to just throw one away which is essentially what he would be doing if he cut Norwood.  The receiver made an impression upon Proehl last year when being worked out. Ron and especially Dave have said how smart Norwood is, and he is being taught all the positions.  There is absolutely no way that Norwood is going to be cut. Gettleman didn't trade for a guy on Tuesday to check him out for a couple of days just to cut him. Gman and company saw something in Norwood, and a lot of us saw something tonight.

Don't know that it's been reported what the conditions are of this trade. It could be that if Norwood is on our active roster anytime in the next two seasons we trade Seattle a 7th round pick. So if we cut him, we won't necessarily owe them anything.

Yeah, I know. Thomas Pointed that out. Thanks,

I guess I better edit the post.

4-star and 5-start OL from tackle to tackle helped too... lol.

Not disagreeing, but curious as to how well Saban's linemen have transitioned to the NFL?

The only names I remember off the top of my head are Warmack and Fluker. I know there was that center that was supposed to be able to play multiple positions but I forget his name.

I'm guessing you know more of them because you watch that area closely.

There's also Mathis (though he was pre-Saban), Carpenter, and the Kouandjio brothers.  I think the center you are thinking of is Barrett Jones.

Compared to the talent they have playing on their OL year in and year out, its surprising how many don't have success (or have very short careers) in the NFL.  The common thinking around college football circles is that Saban flat uses'em up and wears'em out so much during their college eligibility that they don't have much left physically once they reach the League.  True?  No telling, but it seems like it could be.

The position that Saban seems to do the best at producing productive NFL talent is at LB.  DBs are very hit and miss (for every Clinton-Dix you have a Barron, Kirkpatrick, and Milliner) and RBs (for every Lacy, you have a Richardson and an Ingram).  DL is kind of hit and miss as well with only two NFL starters that come immediately to mind (Dareus and Chapman).  But at LB you have starters like Mosley, Hightower, Ryans, and McClain (even though he's a space cadet)

Amazingly enough, for a team that runs as much as they do, it seems like Bama is an up-and-coming producer at WR with Julio Jones and Amari Cooper (and, hopefully, Kevin Norwood)..

If you don't block downfield at Bama, you don't play.  Saban takes his running game seriously.

You can say that, but his downfield blocking both on runs and receptions by other WR was sub par at Bama in most games I saw Norwood in. You can see this in the few cutups on Draft Breakdown as well. His effort really is lacking. Last night that wasn't an issue, so maybe it isn't anymore. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
