Goodell & the owners v. Fans

This idea got quashed in 1945.

nope, companies do handle issues internally, all the time, WITHOUT the courts telling them how yo do so. The difference here, is Brady has a lot of money to throw at this, all in the name of protecting his legacy.

This is America, where if you have enough money, you can get away with murder.

Companies absolutely owned workers during the early 20th century. Unions sprung up as a reaction.  Yes, today there are companies and employees that keep things internal. And then there are large conglomerates who band together, i.e., unionize, that the courts recognize.  If it were not for the court system, retirement would be a unicorn and wealth would be even more concentrated than it is now.

With the Brady ruling, Goodell's image obviously took a hit.  The media sentiment has been that the owners love Goodell because the league is making money.  At the very same time, the media says that the NFL is sui generis, and makes it's own money regardless.  If that's the case, getting rid of Goodell would be irrelevant seeing as how the consensus is that people will always watch.  Further, if Goodell is out, it seems that the brand would grow even more considering the general public hates him.  IMO, it seems that the only thing saving Goodell's job is his effort to expand the NFL abroad.  That's money, and the owners listen to that.  What's the Huddle's opinion?

I think most fans hate of Goodell is toothless becasue theres little threat they will stop watching.

Don't know how a court deciding he can't discipline someone who is almost certainly guilty makes anybody think less of Goddell.  Other than that, as long as the games start on time and are on TV I don't really give a crap about Goddell, or whoever eventually takes his place and I don't really know why any other fan would either.  I mean, I certainly understand why the talking heads that have to fill 24/7 sports talk radio talk about how much he sucks because they will talk about anything to justify themselves having a job but unless you are highly susceptible to suggestion I have no idea why anybody would care about anything Goddell does.  He, his predecessors, and whoever takes his place are just the mouthpiece of the owners so if you have a problem with the NFL its with the owners, not the guy they pay to be the "bad guy".

I have a feeling this thread has two types of posters in. Those who don't know what a union is or how it operates, and those who hates unions and how they operate.

What are you talking about I love people picketing because I chose not to use unionized workers who charge double to build my building.  Or when unions force there members to take 3 months off because they need to picket my business.
