Sad but kind of true. Gotta agree with this article. Not saying we have been drafting terrible players but the neglect of the offense is very evident. No matter how good shaq might be can't help but think we would be better off with Perriman or dorsett in th first and dipping at wr or rb or tackle in thr second.

Unless I'm forgetting both of them were gone by our pick. And considering the move to get Funches to pair with KB, GInn, and a pre-drops Brown we were deeper than ever at receiver.

You take any #1 receiver off any NFL team and all of a sudden that group looks a lot thinner, Nelson, Johnson, Bryant, Green, Hilton, Thomas, there are a lot of good players behind them on those teams. But none that can replace them.

We've been feeding the defense and adding pieces to support Cam while making sure we have room to extend our best players, if ya'll can't get behind that then you may be just a bit short-sited. This team overall is still about 2-3 years from it's best window of opportunity IMO.

To be fair, 1970 football got us further in the playoffs than 23 other teams over the last to years... And it kinda got the Seahawks to 2 of the last 3 superbowls, but yeah, we'll run the narrative.

You consider a 7 win season some badge of honor? You mean the same Seahawks who are constantly trading 1st round picks for weapons and draft receivers early? those same Seahawks that lost to a passing team? Let me guess the Colts, Packers, Saints and Patriots all won SB cause they play old school football, Oh wait they didn't

Per PFF, Norwell and Turner finished the season as the 16th and 23rd best guards in the NFL while Remmers was the top-rated tackle for several weeks.  While not a definitive authority, those metrics give a good sense of performance and saying the line sucks outside of Kalil is incorrect.

Cam got sacked twice, and that was without Kalil. The most important part of our O-Line. And halfway through folkerts (who already isnt the best backup) hurt his foot and was noticeably hindered by it. Which is when he gave up a sack. Dont remember the other.

Sure coordinators aren't going all out, but i promise the starters out there on the D-line are just as hungry to get to the QB and our line has been able to hold them off.

It has looked like the line has improved, but whose really to say anything when we haven't even played a regular season game.

And let me keep bringing up the point the commentators made when we were playing Seattle. When we are forced to pass and the opposing defense knows we are gonna pass the O-line cannot protect well. We constantly had to leave in RB's to block.

We were never deep at a receiver, Ginn and Brown are 4th and 5th string receivers on other team, that's if they make other teams roster.

2-3 years? how long have they been saying that? Its like people here are so scared to admit we have screwed up some draft.

The line improved last year - it's not a question.  Any team can suck the coming season after excelling in the previous, but a statement like "the line is terrible outside of Kalil" is based on previous performance and is verifiably inaccurate.

To your other point, EVERY team's pass blocking takes a hit when the defense knows they're going to pass and rushers don't have to worry about the run. That is not exclusive to the Panthers in any way, shape, or form and says little to nothing about the OL.

Well not everyone is watching the panthers pre season, and Kalil is the one holding down the fort.

No teams pass blocking takes a hit like our when we are forced to pass, since Cam got here we have the worst record in the NFL when trailing by 14 or more points. Worse than the Browns, which goes to show we can't come from behind since we can't pass which ultimately comes back to pass blocking. Their are teams where all they do is pass and the opposing defense knows, they still have success.

Really? no other team takes a hit like ours? I promise you we do not have the worst oline in terms of pass protection in the NFL. I dont know if you realized, but the group we finished with isnt the same that started. The group we finished had two rookies who were playing very well individually and together. Before last year, most of the guys that finished the year starting had never played together.

This year 4 of the 5 were together last year. And most are young and will definitely build upon last year. I understand its preseason, but youre putting too little stock into it. Preseason is literally FOR evaluation.

And the reason we have the worst record when we're down by 14 or more has more to do with our offensive coordinator than anything else. When you don't call plays the whole game that helps get your offense in rhythm its pretty dumb to expect that they're gonna click out of nowhere when youre only passing.

If look at the amount of hits and sacks per pass attempt Cam took last year, were one of the worst.

I'm actually the one not putting emphasis on the pre season, the last time our line took the field in a regular game Cam got sacked twice pressured a bunch of time and all this while keeping in backs to block.

The coaches can only coach the players they are given, can't expect our offense to thrive when we drafting mainly defense and never pursue any big names in free agency. We started more UDFA than any other team in the NFL last season. Undrafted guys can't get the job done

The smart way to become competitive quickly is to fix your defense first. It ain't pretty, but you can become competitive faster and cheaper by straightening out a bad team's defense first. We did that. Our defense wasn't terrible, but it has gotten better.

The next step is grabbing your franchise QB, which we did before getting our defense squared away.

And for the last two drafts, we've picked up quality receivers in the first and second rounds. We've also shored up a terrible offensive line this year, building it in-house for the most part.

What part of this don't you get? Play off appearances for the last two years not proof enough?

Gettleman has done a great job of putting together a team that is built to beat the other teams in our division. And we've gotten lucky that we're surrounded by three dumpster fires around us right now. The Saints, Falcons and Bucs would just about kill to have the small number of problems we do now. Rivera, our relatively new coach, has the second longest tenure in the NFC South at the moment... that says something.

Just relax, sit back and get ready for the season, it's going to be a bumpy ride, but a good one!
