J.Jones: Four players are on the roster bubble, need to play well

top dawg

1 reception for 5 yards in the preseason. Kelvin Benjamin and Devin Funchess have more, and they just played in the first game. Philly has had 3 games.

Opportunity to send a message to the team early if it more of the same in game 4 of the preseason.

Doesn't matter. Philly's on the team.

With regards to finding another wide receiver in final cuts, I am struggling to find a receiver in the last two years that made any semblance of an impact on another team the year he was released at final cuts by another team. Here's the list:

Henry, Ricky

Blechen, Brian

Ball, Marcus

Foucault, David

Brown, Mike      WR

Bubble boys (8 must go)

Brandon Williams, Scott Simonson, and Marcus Lucas TEs--If we keep a TE not named Olsen, Dickson, or Brockel, his name could be Simonson or even Lucas.  I think the  Swole Bones experiment is over.

Nate Chandler and Martin Wallace, OTs–Martin Wallace could beat him out; or we could go with 3 OTs; I see it this way—Chandler 50%, Martin 25%, and no fourth T 25%.

Ben Jacobs Jason Trusnik, and David Mayo, MLB—with Mayo on the roster (or PS) and Klein showing that he is suited for the middle, Jacobs hopes are bleak; Trusnik has a better chance than Jacobs, but not a good chance.

Fozzy Whittaker, Brandon Wegher, and Jordan Todman RB—Three quality players fighting for the 3rd RB honor behind Stewart and CAP.  Fozzy probably gets the job, but will they keep a 4th based on special teams?  If so, my money goes Todman and, with fingers crossed, Wegher goes to the PS.

Corey Brown, Brenson Bersin, and Damiere Byrd WR:  Assuming Funchess, Cotchery, Ginn, and Norwood have jerseys, that leaves 1 to 2 WRs jobs open-1 after picking up a player on the waiver wire—something I expect.  Since we have 2 big possession WRs and 1 speed WR, I would guess that the advantage goes to Brown or Byrd.

Rakim Cox DE or nobody.  Do the Panthers carry 5 DEs?  If so, Cox edges Miley for the job.  I think Cox goes to the PS and the Panthers carry 4.

TJ Heath, Carrington Byndum, Lou Young CB—Fighting for the fifth and possibly sixth CB jobs behind Norman, Tillman, Benwikere, and TWilliams.  I think Heath gets the fifth job, Byndum gets the sixth, but I think they keep 5 and put 1 on the PS.

Dean Marlowe S or nobody.  I think they try to get him on the roster based on the limited play of Jones and Harper. If not, they try to stash him on the PS.  My prediction?  He gets a roster spot.

Brian Folkerts C—Hurt or not, that NE game was ugly.   He could be replaced in free agency, or they could go with Scott and Remmers behind him.

Did you just cut Thomas Davis?

Brown isn't going anywhere.  Those that think so really need to get a grip.  history of prThe guy is in a slump and will come out of it and have a great year.

What makes you so sure?? Again this isn't Jerry Rice or any player with a long history of production.. Some of you act like this is just a blip on the radar in his long storied career. .

plain and simple he is and has been a body catcher .   And that needs to be fixed fast because that doesn't work in this league...

You have never heard me mention or imply he has a "long storied career"

The guy has been productive and will be again.  Two lousy weeks doesn't ruin the whole body of work. He has work on so much of his game and a couple of bad preseason games shouldn't change that.  To think that he will be cut based on those two scrimmage games is about a far off base as you implying "some of us act like this is a blip on the radar in his long storied career"

Amazing how this thread went from players on the bubble to all about corey brown again. If he goes he goes but all of the people wanting him to be cut please think about whats out there. surely most of you have said over and over again that the answer is not on the roster.
