you don't care about Cam's ability to buy time and do amazing things in the pocket or ability to great offense when both a traditional run and pass would be shutdown?

that doesn't make tons of sense but whatever floats your boat

I don't think that you have to be a physical freak/superman to win the super bowl, and I think that you have a better shot at it if you can stay in the pocked and deliver the damn ball where it's supposed to go.

Maybe you like highlight reels, I don't.  I want to see improvement year over year in the passing game, that has not come about yet, and I feel like a large part of that is Cam knowing that he can elude and outrun.  Some will blame him not taking the "next step" on not having elite tools around him.....I partially agree with that, but also need to see some steps.

false.

The talent around Cam on offense hasn't improved each year.

Can't even claim we are trying to win now....look at what we did to Cam last year.  Talent got so bad league wide rejects like Oher and Ginn become HUGE upgrades this year and considered good.

Teams who try to "win now" without a top tier QB always fall right back to the dungeon.  Look at what Atlanta attempted to do a couple years ago.

And yes, this team is more talented than it has been in a decade, you can't just stomp your feet and point to 1 position group and cry about it.

no one said you had to be a freak...

we are talking about having a freak....and wasting those freak years on what has potential to be amazing seasons.

You want improvement in Cam yet think it is realistic with what we do with the talent around him on O? That IMO isn't realistic....greats have great talent. We aren't even in the pretty good area.

really drafting a guy like Newton doesn't make a ton of sense if you don't want to exploit what makes him unique and unlike in QB in NFL history....if you want him to play the game like Manning (and instead of giving him elite players and all time greats all over the field....you give him what our FO does)

We have elite talent on the defensive side of the ball which keeps the score low, and gets the ball back for Cam giving him incredible field position.

We have established a young, reliable offensive line.

We have brought in two top receiver prospects in the draft the last two years.

We have brought in a few free agents that were within our budget, along with bringing back Ted Ginn who worked really well with Cam.

We have one of the best TE's in the league.

We are keeping young players around that have shown potential and are developing chemistry with Cam.

We have a solid stable of running backs.

I think we are watching two different organizations being run here.

We have a lot of great talent on D....no doubt.  We still aren't the Seahawks.  We were 21st pts allowed on D last year....our D last year is drastically over rated.  It wasn't top 10.  Shula ball limits possessions....which limits yardage. Being the 21st ranked D in pts allowed means we weren't that great last year....

our OL isn't established.   It is very unproven.

Agree on Olsen.

Right now at WR we have a hurt KB.  Funchess isn't anything yet...could be great or awful.

RBs are okay.  Which is more than enough....but what really matters is the OL and   We don't know if we can run on anyone much less if we can run on stacked boxes without Cam having to bail it all out putting the focus on him

With what money were we supposed to sign all these skill players?  I agree, we went into last season with an offensive line that was below average.  But there were no decent free agent OL available last season...and even the draft prospects we could have reached for looked terrible.  The issue was not ignored...we just didn't have many options to make improvements.  As far as Oher?  He has looked great this preseason.

Some of you act like pro bowl talent is sitting around waiting to play for us on a vet minimum contract.

Drafting a guy like Cam and letting him play like he did his first 2 seasons kinda does make sense....continuing to have him play like that after giving him 100 million dollars does not make sense.

Let me try to repeat this again, we aren't trying to get Cam to play like Luck or Manning, it's not how our coach wants to play, and for that matter, it's not Cam's game, probably will never be.

when your near the bottom in the NFL from a talent perspective with thin depth....you don't need pro bowlers.

we sign league wide rejects like Oher and Ginn and the improvement is HUGE.  That is how weak we have become on the offensive side....that speaks volumes.   NFL teams outside of comically weak ones don't view those moves as improving but we do....

I don't want Pro Bowlers....I want guys that shouldn't be practice squad on the field.  We see too much of that

and our own GM advised we could quit shopping at Walmart and go to Target.  Didn't see that IMO.  We also sit on dudes like Tolbert....costing us.   Carolina always shows too much loyalty to guys IMO at a cost.

defense is more talented and we have Cam....

you have to go back a long ways on the offense we put around a QB.  Unless you have a historic D (Seattle actually does)....it is an offensive league.

letting his offensive talent get worse every season doesn't make sense.....especially if he is your franchise QB you pay a lot of money too.

Asking him to play in a tradional old school ball control O....with a limited traditional run and no WRs sounds like a real way to get your 100 investment hurt to me...b/c the only hope you end up with is Cam going playground this year trying to make something happen b/c he will know it will come down to that

We seem to have a lot of fans who are more concerned with how Cam looks and compares to the rest of the league rather than how the entire team looks. A lot of people complaining about concentrating on defense were the same people complaining early on in Cam's career that the defense was blowing leads.

I agree with Tolbert...but I disagree that we do not have much offensive talent.  We have 5 RB's on the roster that could be offensive threats.  Has is that not depth?  We have a very solid O-line with good depth at all positions but LT (which it appears Remmers might be able to fill that void nicely).  The TE position is very solid, with 1 pro bowler followed by a solid backup in Dickson.  A few weeks ago all everyone talked about was the incredible depth at WR, with two young studs (Benji, Funchess), three solid contributors (Cotchery, Ginn, Bersin), and a ton of potential talent competing for one final spot.  Oh...and the QB position?  Well Cam is a superstar, followed by the best backup in the NFL.  We have talent...a big injury just left us weak at one position.

I wouldn't be shocked if Rivera keeps only 5 WR (contrary to saying earlier we might keep 6 or 7) and keeps 4 RB's instead of 3.  That 4th RB is more talented than any WR we have past #3...so why not?

Exactly.  We could have 5 pro bowl WR's on this roster and Shula would still find a way to fug up this offense.  We are a defensive team. Fans need to accept that.

I have been listening for the past half decade about how awesome our RBs will be and mean to us....mostly it is just good players watching all game from the sideline.

we don't have a run grading OL.  They haven't shown anything to be excited about this preseason.   Hopefully that changes or it will be a very long year.
