Gettlemagic Teeth pulling : Sticking to Youth Movement.

I don't like the way Gettleman has handled the WR position, particularly at a time when the drafts have been so deep at the position and FA had more intriguing, relatively cheap choices than Jarrett Boykin or even Ted Ginn, but he has gotten us out of cap hell. Let''s not forget that. This is the first year that his head has been above water, so let's see what he does now that he is not just trying to survive.  Calling him a bust is probably at least two seasons premature.

DG is a scout, not GM material. He was in over his head when he was hired and he is in over his head now. Jerry wanted a GM on the cheap and he got one. DG will prove to be a bust.

nobody remembers jerry richardson hiring ernie accorsi, a decorated high-end consultant with super bowl rings of his own, to head up a search committee to find our next GM i guess

this wasn't a cheap or poorly thought out move.  you want to know what a cheap, predictable richardson hire would have been?  handling everything in-house and letting brandon beane (the interim GM) become permanent.

Thanks for posting that and letting everyone know that you don't know what you're talking about

Some of you are something else.

We have been a team of wild up and down seasons for a long while now.  JR wanted to emulate the Steelers, so he hired a guy to do just that.  Build a great defense, get the cap manageable, get a long term QB, and try to be competitive year in and year out.

The Pats can go "all in" year after year because of 3 things.  1: Tom Brady is one of the best QB's of all time, Cam is nowhere close to being able to "carry" a team like Brady can.  2: BB is one of the best scheme coaches of all time.  3: They have played in a weak division for over a decade, we have not had that luxury.

This Panthers team is a team that is getting younger, and is all about locking down it's cornerstones so we can chase a Lombardi at some point.  IMO, we aren't there yet, but we are much closer now than when DG took the reins.  I want a Lombardi in Carolina pretty bad, but I think the best way to get one is become a truly good team top to bottom, to win year after year, to get to the dance season in and season out......kinda like the Steelers, Ravens, Packers, and Pats.

ozzie newsome dismantled and rebuilt a super bowl team before the ravens became what they are under john harbaugh.

they went six years without a playoff win as he built the team.  three losing seasons, two one-and-dones prior to 2008 including their first round dud as the AFC top seed in 2006.

really you can hem and haw about gettleman's drafts but that guy didn't spend a first round pick on kyle boller

I don't think trading for Norwood is exactly a youth movement. They liked him out of college and he will fit our scheme. He had a private workout with Proehl prior to last years draft and is a big strong wide receiver.  They obviously think he can just as good as Boykin and willing to take a chance on the kid. He has more upside and could be another DG gem. We will see Thursday night.

Brown dropping passes and Funchess with the lingering hamstring issues helped their decision as well.

yep.

Entering his now 5th season....the freakshow/video game version of Cam won't exist forever.   Franchise uses him as a crutch IMO.

Hogwash.

I don't care about a video game/freakshow from my QB, I need him to be able to play QB, not emulate Mike Vick.

Cam, as well as almost every other QB enters their primes later, not earlier in the careers.  If you want to see how Cam's career will most likely play out, please refer to John Elway's.
