If hes good, why would a young player be released?

He was good before his injury. He's been out of football for 10 months. Knee injury for a guy his size isn't the easiest thing to come back from. Then they drafted Danny Shelton, who's dominating this preseason. So they have his replacement for a fraction of the cost, because they picked up Taylor's 5th year option.

I don't know anything about the guy but the fact that he is being released is not really a red flag... it is Cleveland; they make horrible decisions.

DG loves his big guys and he believes in fielding the most talented roster that he can regardless of position. If DG can either upgrade backup DT talent or increase DT depth, I really think he will. I mean, there are a few players on the roster currently that no one would miss and that will never see the field again (Foucault, I am looking at you).

  • Former first round draft pick Phil Taylor has fallen down the depth chart on the defensive line, and faces a fight to see much playing time in 2015. A poor season in 2014, where he graded at -6.5 on just 133 snaps, doesn’t help him, but the signing ofRandy Starks all but rules out any chance of him starting this season. He’ll battle with John Hughesfor snaps behind Starks.
