Consider...

In return for the #6 overall pick that the Falcons used to draft Julio Jones, the Browns received First Round Pick #27, Second Round Pick #59 and Fourth Round Pick #124 in 2011 plus First Round Pick #22 and Fourth Round Pick #120 in 2012.  Cleveland later traded up from #27 to #21 via the Chiefs (who actually wound up picking 26th because the Ravens let their time expire).

With those picks, the Browns got...

- DT Phil Taylor (2011, #21)
- WR Greg Little (2011, #59)
- FB Owen Marecic (2011, #124)
- QB Brandon Weeden (2012, #22)
- LB James-Michael Johnson (2012, #120)

What happened to those picks?

Johnson was waived by the Browns prior to the 2013 season and picked up by Kansas City, where he still plays.

Weeden wound up benched in 2013 and released in 2014.  He's currently backing up Tony Romo in Dallas.

Marecic was also cut prior to the 2013 season.  The 49ers picked him up but he never played for them and was released again just a few months later.  He decided to retire from football and go to med school.

Little started out decent but declined and wound up released in 2014.  He spent time with the Raiders and Bengals, where he still is at the moment despite having previously been released.

And Taylor was dropped today.

The life of a Browns fan must be really tough.

and they used a 4th rounder in that trade to move up to draft Trent Richardson!!!  Trent fuging Richardson.

Not sure why we would try to bring in a DT at this point unless the injuries to Star and KK are more serious than advertised. With Dwan, CC, and Love all looking pretty good and assuming at least 1 of our starters are back from injury and 100% (or as close to 100% you can be in football), we have a full rotation. I would keep the people that know the playbook and have had all training camp to make the team over a question mark. Can anyone name another Browns DT? I can't say he was cut from a HOF DL. I like who we have at this point and this position should be the least of our worries.

i definitely think we should scoop him up. He started off really strong and then tapered off, I guess due to injuries. there's a pretty low risk if we can acquire him, and he would give us a great young rotation at DT. he was already good alone on the browns, he could look really good here with our d-line.

i say if he falls to us on waiver or if we can make a sweet little deal, lets do it.

Just for clarification, Taylor doesn't have to clear waivers. He was released, not waived. He was in an option year. He's imiidiately a FA. One thing of note is that the Browns and Taylor came to an injury settlement. Not sure what that means about his health.

Thanks for that.
