Tuesday Panthers Cuts....

we Released Glanton also.. fingered he was a decent back up

Now this one is disappointing. Once again not surprising with Klein and the drafting of Shaq, but Glanton played extremely well down the stretch last year. I recall a couple of plays when I though Beason was still on the team.

Seems like a hard working guy who just knows how to play the game. I wish him the best.

Ok, with the confirmations on White, Boykin & Lester, and the presumed cut of Horsely who is also absent from practice today, this is where we're at.  3 more to go if I understand correctly re: moving KB to the IR

Boykin, JarrettWR254
Browning, PaulWR230
Capers, AviusWR230
Horsley, KennyDT271
Lester, RobertS263
Miller, SteveDE230
Reddick, KevinLB252
Walker, DallasTE271
Ward, LeeFB230
White, MelvinCB253
Wile, MattP230

I was gonna say it's actually 4 more since we added Norwood, but you just forgot Tony Hills. I haven't seen the Glanton thing yet, so I'm assuming still 3 more.

We cut Jarett Boykin but keep Philly Brown. Somebody please explain to me why?

Not that I have the answers, but here goes my first thought:  We have 3-4 WRs with the same basic skill sets--Boykin, Bersin, Norwood, and Funchess.  Brown can get open, is a smaller, faster player.  Not sure how either related to special teams....

of all the position groups on this team that would have to cut talented players loose i would expect the LB corps to be close to tops in that category.  glanton being the odd man out isn't overly surprising to me.

True, but I think of guys like Jacobs and Trusnik as well.  Glanton played ST just as they do, and to me, appeared to be a better player at LB as well.

It's not devastating, just wasn't expected.

OK, to add fuel to the fire re: the concern of cutting Boykin, I hadn't realized, but he was leading the WR pack in receptions & yards in the pre-season games.  But not in reception percentage.  On another thread someone said these were not all "catchable" targets.  I don't have that data... I'm just going by what the Panthers gamebooks say re: targets:
