Trading 1st round picks

Two words: Bobby Beathard.

He was Hurney's mentor, and he sometimes liked to trade away future first rounders.

a minor concern when Gettleman points to Brandon Beane "orchestrating many trades" when speaking to what he's done to deserve a promotion, is where that came from.

Doesn't say "Beane's the one that suggested it", necessarily, but in the wrong light, yeah.  Beathard's foolhardiness being Hurney's being Beane's problem would be a f'in bummer.

Agreed. And I'm not a Beane fan.

Pressure, diamond like.

Hurniay needed to fix/replace peppers, but both he fox needed to have back-to-back winning seasons. Hurniay gambled on the "one player away theory". Oath was needed for power running team, just happen not to work cause he got waaaaay out of shape during a injury period. Then you start to look at the millions in bank and forget about football.
