Assuming Funchess pans out, we might have another blockbuster draft class.

And really, it's not about who the GM is who drafted Moose, Colbert, or Funchess. He's a second rounder for a reason. And he was the third WR in the round. I'm not saying he can't produce or be a star, but let's not get carried away. Anything better than half of KB's production should be a pleasant surprise. My opinion, of course. And if lightning doesn't strike twice with these rookie WRs, it doesn't mean we'll stink. Many teams make the playoffs and even win titles without Pro Bowl WRs.

It sounds like one of the major reasons Funchess wasn't drafted higher is the same as why people think Shaq is a 2nd rounder: no true position. Clearly we picked these guys for a reason (the positions we believe they fill). Also, another reason Funchess was drafted lower was because of his slow combine time, however his pro day was much faster. From the short play action we've seen he doesn't look 4.7 slow and he is agile. Funchess is also by all accounts really smart.

Hurney drafted guys who should have been drafted lower, Gettleman has drafted guys who should have been drafted higher. So I do think it matters who the talent evaluator is when it comes to draft picks and draft rounds.

Funchess has the chance to put up big numbers this season and I think he's more likely to do it than not.
