Panthers won't make Playoffs per CBS

Sports writers up north just don't watch Panthers games, Jags games, Bucs, ect. They're not watching. They think Cam is mediocre, and our WRs are terrible. They're half right. They are going by who you have at QB, WR, and in general the defense. To them Cam + garbage WRs = not making the playoffs. Even if we had better WRs they would still pick us to finish 3rd in the NFCS. Why? Here is their QB pecking order:

Brees

Ryan

Cam

Winston

So most are going to predict as follows:

Saints

Falcons

Panthers

Bucs

Julio will have a big year but Roddy isn't what he was in the past. Unproven RBs. Mediocre TEs. I agree that the defense should be better. No way they easily win the division. My money is still on the Panthers. Charles Johnson will still make Ryan his bitch.

Might as well face it, their running game is going to be tough, but our defense is built to stop any rushing attack. CJ won't do poo if he doesn't get on the field.

Dude, Matt Ryan is elite. I hate him but he's one of the best QBs in the league, he is just a better overall pocket passer than Cam, also has better touch and accuracy. I would trade Cam straight up for him in a heartbeat

Sorry but being "elite" in this league means you're a top 3 player at your position. Matt Ryan is a good sometimes great QB. When he plays us, he usually looks average or good depending on how much our defensive line feasts on him. He's had a fairly loaded cast of skill position players around him and has 1 playoff win in his career. Every other "elite" QB in this league has a Super Bowl or two, or 4 in his career. Hit Matt Ryan a few times in the mouth early and he folds and throws pick 6s. Again, he doesn't have the resume, nor the stats, nor does he pass the eye test to be considered elite. The only elite signal callers at this moment in my eyes are Brady and Rodgers. I think Big Ben takes a step towards that group this season but his supporting cast on offense is probably close to the league's best. Matt Ryan is somewhere between the 7th-12th ranked QB in this league depending on who you ask, realistically.

Same BS "outside looking in" rhetoric.  All they know is KB went down, that's it.  The national media looks at teams who shuffle their rosters every offseason as "hungry" or "movers and shakers determined to get better".  Enter Saints, Falcons, and Bucs.

Horseshit - that's the easy out that the shoddy journalism of today churns repeatedly.  No one likes a small market team who (in their eyes) rested on the laurels of a 7-8-1 season, so they have to be set up to fail, right?  Right??  I mean, we didn't throw crazy dollars at big name FA's so we must be content to sit back and hand the division to someone else, right?

Just tune it out, let the games be played.

Atlanta got better on paper, nothing more. Games are played on the field not on paper. The issue with the Falcons were they were soft and had little heart. That is why they brought in Quinn. But until we see it on the field, it is only on paper. The team that has proven they are tough and resilient is the Panthers. When they come up here and kick our butts like we kicked theirs in Atlanta last year then I might give them respect. Until then fug the Falcons and everyone that even looks like them.

Dez Bryant is an elite WR. Adrian Peterson is an elite RB. Earl Thomas is an elite safety. Luke Kuechly is an elite LBer. JJ Watt is an elite DE. Revis is an elite CB. Tyron Smith is an elite T. 

You mean to tell me Matt Ryan is in this class of talent for his own position? If every one of those continues on the path they are on, they are Hall of Famers. Matt Ryan still has his single playoff win.

Holy poo, Matt Ryan is not an elite QB.  He's not even a consensus top 10 QB.  Good QB?  Absolutely.  There's nothing about him that's amazing, but he's decent to good at a lot of things... he can slice a defense up if you let him, but at the same time he has his own share of flaws.  He's very inconsistent in sensing pressure - downright oblivious at times, if you rattle him then a lot of times he'll beat himself, he's damn near useless if the line breaks down and defenders get in his face, and his arm strength is mediocre at best.  Not to mention he seems like a huge pussy when it comes to contact.  Seen him avoid going after fumbled balls that he could've recovered, gave up on trying to stop pick 6's he could've stopped, and sliding mere feet away from the endzone when the team was down and it was 3rd/4th down.

If Manning continues to play like he did towards the end of last year then there's really only 3 elite ones in the league right now unless someone steps up to join.  Those 3 would be Rodgers, Brees, and Brady.
