Shula: KB's void may be filled by committee, talks up CB

An article by the AP is shedding a little light on the thoughts of Mike Shula in regards to how he sees things shaking out.

Shula said the Panthers will likely replace Benjamin's production at wide receiver "by committee," but is quick to add "eventually there might be a guy that emerges" into that No. 1 role.

Yeah, OK.

Shula pointed to Corey Brown, rookie Devin Funchess and Ted Ginn Jr. as guys who are capable of filling that void at wide receiver — although the starting lineup hasn't been settled.

Seems like we're destined to go down the road that was on the itinerary ever since KB went down.

Shula seems particularly intrigued by Brown, who went by the nickname "Philly" last year before changing back to Corey this past season.

"With Corey, we still don't know how good he can be," Shula said. "He was ascending at the end of last season."

The enigma that is Corey Brown, is destined to be the "made man" on the road to glory.

In addition to suggesting that our WR1 role may eventually be filled by the emergence of a single guy, Shula mentions more work for Ed Dickson and Mike Tolbert. And, Shula doesn't necessarily believe that his overall scheme on offense will have to be modified as much as one might think.

So, there you go, Carolina Huddle. There you go.

Call me a blind homer but I see good things ahead for Corey Brown.

You are a blind homer, the guy that steps up IMO will likely not be Corey Brown. I could see it being Boykin before Brown. My WR group post injury would be...

Funchess

Boykin

Ginn JR.

Brown

Cotchery

Byrd

Bersin out as Cotchery is kept to help stabilize the receivers room with veteran presence. KB's absence allows Byrd an opportunity to make the team and see snaps, and perhaps opportunities as a returner, consider him Ginn Jr. and Todman insurance.
