Let's talk about when we were wrong...

That whole freaking 2005 offseason from the draft to pickups/departures really stunted which should of been the beginning of something awesome.  Seemed like a solid draft on paper at the time sadly.

And yep, the immediate year after was great (SEA NFCC loss).   Also, Wahle and Lucas were good pickups, but Hurney projected they would be productive here a lot longer than they actually were.

Outside of Thomas Davis in the draft (Mathis peaked later on in his career, not here), there was nothing.  Sure we did great in 2005, but that set us up terribly for those next 3-4 years with Jake.  Ok, I'll stop looking to the past haha.

I know I have not liked a lot of our picks over the years. I could pull out the my boards from the past couple decades with the Panthers and point to the players I wanted and never got because the front office knows better.

Tim Biakabatuka and DeShaun Foster are the only disappointments from the players I wanted that were drafted by the Panthers. Thought both could have been franchise RBs.

As for undrafted players, it would have to be Dameyune Craig. I am still of the opinion the Panthers never gave him a fair shot and went with Jeff Lewis and Chris Weinke over him. Craig was smarter and better than Brad Johnson, Kurt Warner and Jake Delhomme (all Super Bowl QBs). Dameyune Craig would be a hot commodity today. Throwing for 600+ yards in a game at the pro level in any league is amazing. He was the Russell Wilson of his time with a better arm, and had an extremely high football IQ that he now shows off in building college champion caliber teams. The NFL just wanted to resist that style of QB. Personally, he will be the next OC I trumpet for the Panthers.

I don't think it was wrong of us to believe in David Gettis. He showed real potential. He was ruined because of injuries.

I also believed in Matt Moore. Still believe wasn't really given a chance here.

Really thought Steve Smith would make something out of Ryne Robinson

Loved me some Keary Colbert.

I also share the sentiments of other posts regarding Nate Salley, E. Brown, Hartwig, etc

And finally. I was completely convinced that Deshaun Foster was going to be the GOAT. That son of a bitch was damn good, for maybe like a season and half if you total all his games lol
