An Alternative Roster Projection - The Youth Movement

The only thing that gives me pause is are we getting carried away with how talented these young guys really are or are they legit?

In 2 drafts Gman has hit on virtually every position he has attacked except RB. He has had multiple rookie UDFAs turned into productive starters.

Now we see a whole new rookie crop of RB/FB flash... with only Hurney regime, old RB/FBs in front of them.

It would kind of be silly to have low expectations about CAP/Wegher/Ward at this point (not attempting to take anything away from Stewart + Tolbert)

BTW has Tolbert done anything impressive at Camp at all? His preseason performance indicates he's fallen off quite a bit. Have a hard time seeing them let him go, but really don't think we'd miss him.

Not to mention that 2.4 Million in savings we'd get by cutting him a year early.

Only thing he's done in training camp this year  is walk thru the defensive huddle and piss TD off

I really like this lineup.  The love for Cotchery is overwhelming sometimes.  If the guy is on the sideline in the ear of rookie and 2nd year WRs then he isn't doing us any good.  We have Ricky to do that.  I think our roster has everything he can do on the field and most likely do it better.

Too many are living in the Tolbert past.  One of my favorite players but Ward makes more sense.  Wegher;s is the real deal and we are going to regret it if we let him walk.

I think what would solve all our concerns would be to let them get some time with the first team offense.See how mighty they are against first line defensive players

I like the  "Alternative "  younger roster..

I always wonder what the coaches see, vs what we as fans see.  Many of us are all on board with the Wegher's Wards etc.. But I wonder what the coaches see.    I recall  that I was sooooooo excited about Fozzy last season,,  I'm not so much this year and based on what little I've seen, he and Tolbert would be gone..

I've not seen a lot from Corey Brown,, or Cochery ,, but I think one or both will be on the final 53.

Sept 1st is first cuts.   Is this when many teams cut big name players, so they might catch on with another team ?

Even with youth peppered throughout the roster there are still veterans in every positional grouping. I am not sure that we will wholesale let go of some proven veterans who are not impressing this season for guys that have never done anything period, but have shown flashes. But in either case we should field a better team than last year from a talent point of view.

I don't know that we would ever let age be the deciding factor unless all other things were equal. I would think it comes down to who can help the team more this year not 3 years down the road. But some of these new guys are playing so well that it is making roster choices very difficult.

Rivera and Gettlemen got an infusion of young talent last season and went from something like 2-7 and made the playoffs.  Not only do I see this as a thematic scenario, I think this is accurate.  The only change I would make is this:  Foucault has looked terrible.  Doubt he makes the roster.

On the fence about Cotchery, but this was a youth-themed roster, so I get it.

THanks for sharing.  Wow.  Very close to my ideas.  I am not sure Cox makes the roster, but I see the argument for putting him (or Miley) there.  Your PS is solid too.  LB is a bit scary, but we have Glanton and Mayo on the PS.  I would love to see Marlowe make the backup SS and play Coleman at SS---but RR is in love with the slow-ass veteran Harper.  Teddy Williams played himself onto the roster--if he continues to play well, we are set.

I am tired of WR and CB being our weakness.
