Will we see Jonathan Stewart against New England?

Recommended Posts

Jonathan Stewart is a crucial piece to the offense this upcoming season. We need Stew to live up to his contract and his draft position for this offense to have success. So far this pre-season, he has yet to get any touches...likely as a result of his injury history. With the third pre-season game coming up and starters likely to see at least a half of action, do you believe  we will see Stewart play at all? Our first team offense needs some confidence going into the season and I believe that starts with a running game lead by Stewart. Even if it is just for a few series I really hope Rivera inserts him into the line-up and allows him to run downhill.

He had 2 carries against Miami. I would bet we play him for about a series against New England, just so he can get in a groove. More important though will be to see how Wegher, Todman, Whittaker and Artis-Paybe do against New England's first team defense.

Good looks. I really quickly checked the box score and missed him. Will be interesting to see who runs well against the ones of the Patriots.

TBH, with all the major injuries to star players this preseason (and with Stew's injury record), I say give him 5-7 touches and call it a day. No need to risk anything in a meaningless preseason game. Would much rather have Stew as close to 100% going into the regular season. Besides, I want to see some more of CAP and some of Wegher with the ones.

With so much competition behind him why would we waste snaps on a known beast? Might as well let him rest his legs for the regular season and let the guys behind him duke it out over the remaining RB spots. Based on his history there is no reason to risk him getting injured at this point. We know what we get with Stew. When he is on the field, he produces.
