Panthers, Pack, & the difference in reactions to the injury of a WR1

Davante Adams their number 2 would be our number 1 and they still have Cobb. Also I'm excited to see Abbrederis get a chance this season. 

 

Kudos to the Packers for drafting Adams when they already had Nelson and Cobb. Panthers had plenty of chances to address this position the last 2 years

I Just don't trust anyone in charge of the panthers offense. Who is in charge of the panthers offense? Rivera... No thanks, Shula...? good god. The Panther Offensive coaching staff hasn't shown us anything to make us believe they can get the job done, especially with someone like KB out.

the packers have had competent front-office maneuvers for far longer than we have, and it's given them a chance to round their roster out well enough for a significant enough period of time that they can fine-tune and tweak it year after year.

I love Cam, but Rodgers is on a different level good. 

As you should, they are different style QB's both with traits unique but both with dynamics soley owned and yes Rodgers is an elite QB

I'd say it has a lot to do with the fact that Ted Thompson has been GM of that team for ten years. And up to just a few years prior to him, Ron Wolf was in charge.

Dave Gettleman just finished his third draft, and has had to spend a significant portion of his first few years as a GM cleaning up the mess left by Marty Hurney.

The team has indeed gotten better since Gettleman took over, but to get to the level of the Packers will take more time.

As long as there's consistent progress along the way. I'm comfortable.

GB has been finding great wrs under both those GMs.  They know exactly what type of guy to look for.

I don't know it it's that simple (not saying that you're wrong).  The gargantuan hole at WR has not been plugged for a while.  It has been partially plugged, but I have discussed the lack of depth for years.  Hell, last year's draft and this year's draft were full of potential gold at the position. Moreover, how many times do you need to plug up the whole at linebacker?

Well, they aren't lying... 

We have not invested in our offense, specifically reciever, like the top teams have over the last few years.  Teams like the Packers seemingly always have a reciever as their BPA when they aren't picking for need.  The Colts, Ravens, Steelers, and a number of other perennial contenders every year have followed the same path...  The Seahawks are the only semi-exception, but even they have invested heavily through the draft and FA.

A guy that couldn't get on the field for them last season looked like possibly our best WR last night.  That pretty much sums up the difference in reaction, IMO.

But that's the issue Scot...  It appears that Gettleman's BPA board likely looks dramatically different from guys like Thompson's. 

The difference is that Gettleman may just have an affinity for defense over offense, specifically reciever and thus, we don't invest heavily in the position.
